Default It has been a hard decision, but i'm going APS ST

Lot of back and forth here between the Turbonetics and APS ST's.. Thanks to Sharif for our email conversations. What it came down to is the cost to do the TN tuner kit with all the upgraded parts vs the APS ST as is. I was also interested in the TN 1.5 kit, but details are still vague and there is no posted timeline.

The other factor is a complete lack of Turbonetics dealers in the midwest. If I went TN, I was going to ship or drive the car to Sharif 1000 miles away. GRD is about 240 miles from here and that became a deciding factor also.

Good choice, every kit offers something different-good luck with it, and post dyno #'s when you get them...

while I'm not at liberty to discuss what I've heard on the stage 1.5 kit,

my suggestion is, at least wait until it comes out to make your decision

We have modest goals that would be served by either kit. I really don't want to do the reflash, so that ruled out the non-tuner TN kit as is today. The price increase from TN brought it closer in price to the APS.

More than anything, the proximity to GRD has become the "tie breaker".. I grew up in Chicagoland and have family up there still. Popping back up for service or upgrades is much easier since there seems to be a lack of quality TN dealers in the midwest.

I already have over 600hp, in my vehicle.. This is my wife's car and her daily driver.

How many Z's over 600 anyway? Very very very few people go that far. Even if we want more someday, the kit could be extended into the 500's.

Actually you don't need an "authorized dealer" to install a Turbonetics kit. You could have billy badass tuner down the street do it, or install it yourself in your garage.

Good luck with the APS kit.

It is not a project I have time to tackle myself. I travel 4 to 5 days a week and the last thing I want is to take up multiple weekends installing a turbo kit. Weekends are for family, friends, and fun.

There isn't a shop in the St Louis area I really trust. If I did TN, I'd want the tuner kit with a UTEC and to my knowledge no one around tunes those. That is why I was talking with Sharif about shipping the car there if I went TN.

Good choice... it's also very refreshing to see a thread posted by someone who has done their research, instead of the typical "want to go turbo whats teh best one?" nonsense.

I'm not trying to change your decision, but if price was the reason you came to your decision I've seen the TN's kits for sale in the classifieds for $4,700 shipped from the forum sponsers. Good luck with whatever kit you choose. Congrats!

Price is not that important of a consideration. There are plenty of opinions on which kit is better, but in the end it all comes down to install and tuning to make any kit perform. GRD being somewhat close was a the main factor.

I was, but we "sold" it back to GRD at the time. Dropped $20k into the Lightning last summer instead..

Now it is the Z's turn again

Definitely a good decision. Tuan, Bill, and Irshad will treat you right and you'll be happy when it's on. We just ordered a batch of APS C6 kits and I'm still trying to figure out whether I build my 350z with a APS TT and Jackson Auto Machine shortblock or just buy a C6 and put the TT on it stock.
