Congrats Bert...Mike is my guy and he definitely knows his stuff. I'm going back next week for a little more NA UTEC tuning.

I've changed a few things and look for good things with a new UTEC NA tune. There is a little more out there IMO and I'm sure Mike will find it.

Thanks.

It seems curious as to how some people are hitting 400+ with 440cc injectors. Others with the stock kit injectors (380's) have posted near or even over 400whp. I would have expected this combo of 550's/fuel return/UTEC to be higher.
Obviously there are significant differences between cars and dyno's and probably some of the tunes are more aggressive than others but the differences being reported between TN setups are enormous.

That's easy. Injectors don't add horsepower, they facilitate it.

I agree with Taurran...also, please note that most dyno numbers that are tossed onto the forum are not SAE corrected.

I'm not sure, but Bert is a stickler for details. My guess is that his numbers are corrected.

Yeah I know that, that wasn't exactly what I was suggesting. But the addition of the UTEC TUNE and better fuel supply should have resulted in decent power. That's one of the reasons that most people do it and why a lot of people want a TN stage 1.5 kit.

I was under the impression for instance that when Sharif tuned JET's car with 440's, he stopped at the point where the injector DC began to get maxed. SO I'd think that 550's might have yielded more potential. Yet the numbers are lower or close to the same.

I thought the turbine had a lot more potential too. what is the limit on his power here or was it a very conservative tune?

I have the same setup as JET, and i was only able to make 362. I guess it just boils down to if your knocking or not...lemme tell you how happy i am with that #

Sorry to hear that. It is interesting though. Did you also have Sharif tune the car?

Thanks for the kind words guys. And thanks Quang for posting the awesome pics!! I cant wait to wash/wax/drive it tomorrow BTW for right now this is all I wanted, I told mike I want the same power I came in with just safer, its only a pump gas map. Could he have tuned for over 400whp? Yes, but thats not what I asked of him, he also dialed in the A/F to exactly what I requested. Also keep in mind it made better power richer and at 1psi less boost. Wait till you guys see the race gas map with more boost....Im gonna try to go 11's with under 400whp, if I cant the race gas map comes into the picture.

why would it be that significantly different based on the tune alone?

If he upped the boost, sure, it'd be significant. He didn't though.

Because a better tune can yield more power while boost alone may not.
You don't have to up the boost to get more power. But Alberto has already said that they tuned to his specs not for max power.

Guys-especially David, a turbo car at an A/F of high 11's, low 12's will make good power on the dyno-as you can see from my great baseline #'s. Unfortunately on the street thats dangerous. Just imagine if it had boosted 10psi for the baseline and tune, it would be hard I think to even keep the good numbers and make it safer at the same time (with an A/F 1 pt richer), in the world of performace everything is a trade off, I wanted safety over power. And on top of that my new #'s were at 9psi max, whereas my baseline at AAM was at 10psi. When you take everything into consideration you should have no doubts on the tune. Also, dont get caught up in peak numbers, the area under the peak got fatter, that is way more important.

Yeah I understand Alberto...and if you had not been so lean to start you might have made more power with the tune. But its great that you have a good safe tune now with decent power levels.

I am just surprised by the difference in power levels that we are seeing from the TN kit if you believe what everyone posts.

Well we have everything from 350's to 412whp with the TN kits on differnet dyno's, boost pressures, dyno corrections and octane fuel. Its hard to really compare what people are doing even with the same dyno. Thats why I dont get too caught up in dyno numbers I prove myself at the track Anybody can build a dyno queen, not everybody backs up their dyno numbers with track times...

HA-the revup lower plenum sucked huge donkey d!ck. I thought more volume in the plenum + boost = more power. Hell no. Semi-tuned with the revup it wouldnt do much past 365whp, and the power dropped off DRAMATICALLY. At 6200rpm's I was at 365whp, by 6600rpm's it had dropped to 295-300whp!! Crazy how fast the power fell. And my TQ and power under peak was down. I swapped back to stock before finishing the tune, much better Now even at 6600rpm's I am above 360whp...

So, I wouldnt recommend it to anybody. Another member had a similar experience with the rev-up plenum on his 287 FI motor.
