Default Fuel hose RECALL

So I got my notice in the mail, but I'm debating if I should take it in.

I'm having nightmares of a tech removing my aps exhaust, eibach suspension.. some young ***** taking my Z out for a spin and wrecking it!! What to do...

Has any other FI owners done this yet??

Im going in this Monday. I know and talk to the techs at my dealership frequently and they all dig my car. So I guess I can be as assured as possible that they will take care of my car. They have done the repair already ( I will not be the first) and they came close to the time alloted according to the bulletin. It seems after talking to them that the repair is not as much a pain in the *** as the bulletin reads. We will see. My dealership also opened a Nismo department and seem to be becoming a bit mod friendly. I already asked for sponsorship for the S-Tune suspension...no dice! lol

i had to have my rear wheels bearings replaced today and had them do this at the same time. but yes they didn't install the exhaust correctly and need to redo tomorrow. oh well.
they had said they had pulled out some really bad filler neck hoses though. lots of cracks even on low mileage cars. might not be smart to wait for the leak. we all know that fuel ignites, lol. might not be good if you spit flames out the exhaust.

I got my car's recall done yesterday, and all went well, but I know a lot of the techs there and the service manager pretty well. This is the most in depth recall though, the tech will literally drop your entire rear sub-frame just to replace a couple of hoses, and it took almost 3.5 hrs. My advice would be watch, for there is no need for a test drive with this recall.

I see that right now, but that's only because the rubber seal around the canister is stretched

but whats worse, leaking fuel somewhere and then having to get it towed in, and then having the dealer techs do the swap on your modified car

or taking preventative measures @ the risk of the tech doing the swap on your modified car... ?

im scared too....

my opinion is that if it's a recall, it's happened to enough cars that nissan has become worried that it's a big issue and wants to cover their *** in case of lawsuits.

I say take it in. If some punk at the dealer has to go drive your car to make sure the car is driving fine, then so be it. Better than the car catching on fire

Why the hell do these kahk suckers need to test drive the car? Once they start the car they will know if there is a leak or not.

I don't know when I'm gonna do this. Last thing I want is them leaving it in the key in the on position and possibly needing new coils.

No...that is completely false. The problem is with the fuel FILLER tube and the EVAP system hoses. NOT the fuel feed hoses. There is no fuel pressure in the filler tube or the EVAP hoses. The filler tube is the tube that goes from the side of your car to your gas tank. The only time it should leak if it's cracked is when you are filling up your car or if you overfill it. The EVAP (evaporative emissions system) hoses just carry fumes to the evap canister that has a special filter on it.

What nissan is worried about is fuel spilling onto a cigarette butt or something while you're filling your car up with gas.

This is a safety recall and that in itself should be enough to most Z owners to go in. As others have stated, the filler necks can crack and NOW (not tomorrow) is the time to get your car in for this fix!

It'll also help to have only a 1/4 tank of gas (or less), so the tech won't waste time draining the fuel out of your Z.
