That would explain better why a flash for the TN kit works [ for the most part ] and doesnt work for the Vortech with anything over 8psi

yup... and a lot more then you might think at first... those suckers take some serious power to spin quickly enough to generate boost. research the hp spent on those top fuel cars just to run the superchargers... its something crazy like 200hp.

Your theory would be correct if the S/C would develop the same power levels a turbo produces but that is not the case in most all situations..

sja177,

"Were you running the 3.12 pulley as well? Maybe someone who knows more about technosquare will chime in."

I have the 3.12 pulley with walbro, 440 injectors, fmu/ aux fuel pump and had it tuned by AAM and the A/F is around 11-11.5 accross the board.. This set up however has left me with a fuel press of about 80 psi under no boost conditions and raising up beyond this under boost.I questioned AAM about the fuel press level and they said it's fine..???

wait so is the fmu/aux fuel pump what came with the original vortech kit? the tuner kit has nothing fuel related at all.

I'm not totally sure what all the normal vortech kit gives you because I have the tuner kit as well

The standard kit provides the fmu which is activated by boost pressure and aux fuel pump which is turned on by the S.S box.

Some thing about that doesnt seem right . If you have the FMU and Aux. fuel pump , why would you need to run fuel preasure at 80psi with out any boost [ normal driving ] ? Also...how do you turn the aux. fuel pump off and on with out the SS box in place ?

edit...Ok ..you must have the aux. pump running all the time , to have a psi of 80 when in off boost

The tuner kit..only comes with the bracket ,pulleys , blower , IC , and pipes
you have to supply , a fuel System , and EMU

Booger,, no the aux fuel pump does not run all the time...When the new pump and injectors were installed the fuel pressure went up to 80 psi..I didn't plan on an 80 psi fuel pressure in fact I was surprised by it.The S.S box is installed and like I said it controls the aux fuel pump...The pump does come on and raises the fuel press above 80 psi during boost..

So you are saying the Walbro it self made the preasure go to 80psi...I see

Don't know why but that's what happened...After reading phunks discussion on the stock fuel system makes me wonder what the hell happened to the stock fuel press regulator...

I was going to ask that . Not sure if it can stay inplace when the Walbro is installed . It is in the essembly in the tank I believe . PM Phunk or sharif and ask

If you just stick a walbro in the tank, the fuel pressure will raise but only at idle and very low RPM and engine load. The 350z runs a constant 12v to the fuel pump. The 255lph overwhelms the factory intank return system and causes fuel pressure spikes when the engine is hardly burning fuel.

It stay's around 82 psi at idle and drops to about 80 during low rpm engine load...The question is why is it this high in the first place and is it a problem at these pressure levels??

the only problem is that it will cause the car to idle and cruise rich at low RPM.

the reason its so high in the first place is just like i said, the ammount of fuel from the 255lph overwhelms the factory fuel pressure regulation system. Once your moving and the engine is burning more fuel, the pressure should go back down

The Turbonetics has the installer modify the stock FPR to get a base fuel pressure at idle of 58-59 PSI. Under full 8 PSI of boost from the turbo my fuel pressure gauge at the condensor shows ~50 PSI of fuel pressure...

Thats interesting, I wonder why some people get the return fuel return system with the turbonetics then?

Because they want to keep a constant pressure. With a return kit if your base fuel pressure at idle is 58 PSI that will stay 58 PSI no matter how much boost you run...

I see now why its possible that you are tuned right, you are running fmu, auxillary, AND injectors.
You should get the fuel return system though to reduce that fuel pressure. Maybe once you get that, you could then sell the fmu and auxillary and buy a walbro
