This is one of the reasons that hold me back from building. I see all these guys building just to blow the shiet up! Jimmy you didnt even have time to post thoughts about your build before it went! I remember during you build you bought all the right shiet. Seems like you didnt take any shortcuts. So what really happened? You must have only had 500 miles on that biatch! I have to give it to you I would have thrown in the towel by now!

That's sucks man. you should have just broke that beyotch in on the dyno and you would have been good to go. I don't like driving an untuned car.

i did break it in and take it to a dyno to tune but had some other issues...with that.. im never going to DC again. this was after i broke in the engine and went to synthetic.. actually the sound appeared on my way home from dc trying to get tuned so i parked my car and drove the civic then i had a free day to take it up to jersey so i did and lost her that day

I am not pointing fingers caused I don't even know who tuned your car, but by what your posting above it sounds like your tune caused your motor to go. If you were having issues while tuning they shouldn't have let you take the car IMO. More info about the issues please because I brand new built motor doesn't just go like that.

basiclly it was because of boosting without a proper tune so my fault... i never got to get on a dyno never even got to get on my car becasue i actually was babying it.. i didnt want what happened to happen..but slipped up and touched boost and phucked some **** up... the car ran strong and everything was good. very good build on the engine if you ask me...but a little detonation will crap on your dreams!

An article I recently read about Detonation indicates an engine making 0.5 Hp/cu inch will not cause severe damage due to detonation to an engine however anything above 1.5 Hp/cu inch will cause significant damage and rapidly.. So with F.I. pushing around 400 Hp with the VQ 35 the ratio is about 1.9 well above the 1.5 ratio...

Detonation...Detonation...Detonation...

Tuning...
Boost too High...
Not the right Octane...
AF too Lean...

Detonation will kill any motor and quick...usually the rod bearing go first, everything heats up then pistons start coming apart.

We see it all of the time regardless of your kit. We can help with the build and the tuning.

Goodluck!

I know how you feel, but I got my car back a few weeks ago and within 1 day of getting home the car was not running right. It was tuned in TX 50 degree wheather and with Florida's 90 degree temps the tune was off. Mark from SGP has been in Miami since Sunday installing the HKS FCON and he retuned my car this evening.

I made 513.6whp @16psi on a dyno dynamics SAE corrected with no dyno jet correction. It was 89 degrees and 42% humidity. The car was slipping bad on the rollers and we could not strap it down any more cause my 285/35/19's were rubbing really bad. It smelled like a tire factor every time we did a run. Dyno jet numbers would be around 580whp probably even more since I was slipping on the rollers. I am going to have the fendors rolled and hit a dynojet within a week or two. The car is fuking ridiculous! So smooth and the response is so fuking insane!

I too was trying to sell my car. Moral of the story.......I wouldn't sell it now if someone offered me a million dollars....well maybe for a million.

Good luck on what ever you decide.
Freakin' awesome......I'm glad Mark took car of everything on your car for you.

Yes. Even with forged internals, the block is aluminum. Not designed for that much forced power.

We have proven over the past 2 years, that with forged internals, on a stock block, the cars can be pushed slightly past 600rwhp!!! so that's pretty impressive to me

Ive been wondering if any one thinks that this years winter gas mixture has anything to do with motors blowing ? I dont know what they do differently in the winter . But with gas being so high , the gas companies maybe mixing it differently and its making cars go lean and detonate . Just a thought
