Default Bad RC 550 injcts!

Just installed NEW RC 550cc injectors, ran well until I got in on MacAutos dyno...#4 inject. stuck open on dyno! Tear plenum down, remove #4. The guys at Mac managed to get it to free up only to have it re-stick open one pull later! We found another used full sized 550 in the shop, installed finished tune.
Later that night 1:30am, driving home from MacAuto 1/4 mile from my house, hammered it from stop sign, near the top of second car goes FLAT....no power running like dodo. Limped home, when I got to the garage I see all this smoke from the back!! Just went in and went to bed, at that point I thought I had blown up the car of sure!
First thing thing next morning, called Erick from Boulder Nissan, After pulling all the spark plugs, thinking I would find a cylinder full of oil, found #6 cylinder 1/4 way full of fuel! Another injector stuck open! x2 out of x6 BAD? brand new!
RC however has been more than fair, overnighting me a new set of non-machined down 550s. Thanks RC.
Has anyone else had problems with these short 69.5 mm R.C. Engineering injectors?

Well I also had a huge problem with RC, That is the reason I had a cyclinder 5 misfire, the injector leaned out and cracked my ringland... We test the injector on two cars and same result, right now the injector is back at RC and they are doing " testing" but they sent a bad injector and now I have to pay for my motor being pulled and labor..... NOT FAIR.

I've had lots of experience with RC's (used to sell them)...I'll never run them again personally. Pintle style, poor spray pattern, leaky and prone to failure.

NEWS UPDATE! I just spoke to John the GM at RC, and we worked out a deal, They are taking care of the injectors, basically refunding the money I spent on the injectors. Which is $500.00, great company and very understanding. +1

I've sold about 400 RC injectors, and so far, I've seen or heard of 3 bad ones. Kevin, if you bought them from us, they wouldnt have broke....ok...kidding.

Now tell me about this cut down RC injectors you are using?? We only sell the 350Z specific injectors, machined for the VQ35.

By all means I'm not trying to point any wrong doings at RC!! "Machined" on the x6 that I have is very rough on the top where there are taken down to fit stock 350z fuel rails 69.MM. The 440s are "built" to that smaller dimension, not modified to meet this smaller size that fits the stock rail spec. How I understand it is that some of these like the 550 are machined down from approx. MM to 69.MM to fit, MABY? causing more of a chance of malfunction in these units?!
I can fit a non-cut 550 injector, due to the fact that my rails are no longer stock Nissan rails, AAM.
It still just might be bad luck or chance that at my tune shop, x3 out of x6 of these Nissan RC injectors are malfunctioning?

I had the same thing happen right after i got mine tuned at macauto 440 rc's that came with the greddy kit it stuck wide open! me and nick thought i had blew the headgasket with all that smoke coming out. Man was i glad when i found it was a stuck injector i tapped it with a screw driver and it works fine right now... dont know for how long it will last.

Anyone else have probs with RC? What other options are there out there that fit either the stock rails or AAM type upgrades?

RC, DW, and PE are the most common. Any injector has about a 1% or less chance of failing. I would use whatever brand you feel comfortable with. I stick to RC, becuase they have excellent customer service, fast turnaround times, and they are readily available for a vast number of different engines.

99% of the problems I had with RC was the fact they were leaky, had few fail, but still...who wants a leaky injector.

I started suggesting http://www.fuelinjectorclinic.com/index2.htm to people as they have very high quality products at good prices. Plus they don't use pintle style.

(I dont' know what style RC uses on the "custom 350z" injectors, just saying I'd never personally run them)

I've seen many problems with RC injectors. I wouldn't consider running them myself knowing what I do about their flow testing, spray pattern, failure rate, etc.

You can't beat Deatschwerks injectors. They cost about half the price of RC injectors, and come flow tested in a matched set to 1% tolerance.
