Default Taking Your Car to the Dealer for Service

I have an appt. next week to take my car to get 2 new front wheels put on. The original front 2 paint was fading right off wheel. Anyway the dealer is going to replace the wheels with 2 new ones. I hate the idea of dropping my FI G off for some punk kid who works there to see it and say to himself "humm let me road test that one" and beat up on my ride. Not to mention I haven't gotten all of the bugs worked out on my set up just yet. What do you guys do when you have to drop your boosted cars off. I can't be the only one who is concearned about this. I know they like to "road test" for just about anything.

i guess the best thing you could do is write down your mileage. You could probably tell them that no one can drive the car unless your in it.
(thats what i would do)

Good idea. I'll try that.

Talk with the service manager - and make it very clear to him that the car can not leave the lot without you inside. I also insist that they keep their dirty hands off the car and decline the free car wash (swirl application).

If they're just replacing the wheels it should take no more than a few minutes... I'd just work out a specific time frame with them and then wait while they do it.

make sure you have about 2tablespoons of gas left in the car and a locking gas cap. dont give them the key to the cap and tell the service writer it's almost out of gas. then position yourself near the garage entrance to make sure the immature lot porter doesnt go around the block before bringing your car back out to you.

Ya I am only having 2 wheels replaced but who knows how long that will take the dealer. It is warranty work so they may have billed Infinity 2 hours which would probally mean the car will be kept for 2 hours. In any case I will speak to the service manager and make it clear the car will not be "test driven".
