here's a video showing going thru the gears by jason@performance nissan

https://my350z.com/forum/showpost.ph...1&postcount=52

at 2 min 37 sec - the revs drop to just over 4k at the beginning of 2nd gear

you can see his speedometer to know what gear he's in

notice how at each shift the rpms are higher than they were in at the start of the previous gear

Since each shift isn't going to be perfectly at 6600 because it's a manual, and depending on just how soon you floor the gas pedal again - and in the case of a clutch like the tilton which is very sensitive, there's going to be some slight variance in the rpms at each shift, but I think the rpms I listed are generally right

You can throw all the math(theortical #'s arent always actual) and vids at me you want, all Im saying is at stock redline a 1-2 shift will land you above 4000rpm's....and with a 7100rpm limit a tad over 5000rpm's, if not you shift slow.

I know and im watching my most recent in-car video, a 1-2 on stock gearing at 7100 = 5000rpm's in 2nd gear.

I know and I'm basically agreeing with you that depending on your shifting technique it might be above it anyway, especially if you don't ever take your foot off the gas pedal cause the rpms will briefly rev up, not losing momentum, then by the time you engage the next gear it's already higher than if you were to shift normal.

4042rpms is above 4000 rpms, and shifting at 7100 rpms would obviously mean higher rpms in the next gear than shifting at 6600 - which I'm getting 4349rpms as the target rpm.

keep in mind, most people do shift "slow"

Even with a fast regular shift I could land 5000rpm's on the 1-2 @ 7100, math doesnt always tell the story....

that's cool, and you should be proud of that

I just watched another video - a TT with cams, and it looked like the rpms were about 4200rpms at 2nd gear, hard to tell though cause there's a slight shake when shifting

You'd better before I get ahold of some slicks!

I'd agree, ST is where it's at for the 1/4mi.
