Default Yet another SSV thread...

I saw several posts that show what Kinetix claims their SSV puts down on F/I Z's, and I saw several posts that show hearsay about it's comparison to other plenums (APS, Crawford...)

Does anyone have any dyno experience with it? I like the idea of it being one piece, but before I throw down the $ I want to know what others have experienced to see if it will complement my TN kit.

Right now I have the V4 and it sounds SICK under boost, but I'm going to start pushing my engine a little harder, and it may be too loud for me to really hear/monitor engine health. Plus its only good for ~10psi.

Feedback appreciated...

N/A I picked up 12 ft.lbs of torque up to around 5000 rpm's where it leveled off to equal the Crawford plenum. Hp was the same for each.

All the results I've seen on this board for the SSV and FI equal power loss.

I don't get it with this thing. It's not that nice looking and people still want it even though the majority of have seen a loss in power after installing the SSV.

I didn't realize that most people lost power with the SSV.

I actually gained power.

As far as not being "that nice looking", are you serious? The piece I have looks fantastic. I have had 3 different plenums, and this is by far the best one I've owned.

What I will say is that the power up top for NA use is little or no difference from the crawford I had on right before it, but the low to midrange is definitely stronger!

If you already have an aftermarket plenum, all switching to this will do is give you bling factor, i went from kinetix V4 to SSV and didnt notice a thing.

I felt like I gained power, but who knows

I'm running a thermogasket with mine to lower intake temps and I believe that's the way to really get power out of the manifold.

otherwise, 10 lbs less, better access to parts etc is always nice

The V4 is rated around 10lbs of boost so I want to change it out for safety. I thought about going with the Crawford, or APS. Regardless of which one I choose, I'll probably spend the extra $ and get it polished.

The threads I've seen were people saying they lost power. One guy dyno'ed with the SSV and then with the APS. I believe he saw like 30whp increase without any tuning with APS over the SSV. He was FI so I don't know if the results aren't as good with n/a.

Other than the polished look I don't find it that attractive, especially not a $800 something a pop.

you can't go wrong with either one. YOu could always wait a bit. There are a couple of new plenums that are about to hit the market.

I believe that a company called A****** A********* is coming out with a complete manifold (which bolts directly to the heads, that is right directly to the heads). I believe that this maniold may be offered in a FI and an NA version possibly.

there's another company that is supposed to have a bad mama jamma plenum. results are very good for FI. I don't know about n/a though. I don't know an ETA when it will hit the market, but it is suppose to be soon.

I felt a gain, although i wasn't able to get it dyno'd. Biggest difference is in the mid and lowr ange. Actually theres a huge difference. I wouldn't recomend this for FI. Too much turbulence in boost invironments for this type of manifold. You'd need a twin plenum. in boost, smoother is better.

Gman ur talking about the plenum i'm speaking of.. the twin one that looks like the VG30DETT plenum???

:-D i saw it once. Its pretty pimp. Looks very very affective for FI, i think its made specifically for NA or Greddy TT. Doesn't look like it would fit APS.

your kinetix carries a lifetime warranty for up to 15 psi not 10

so just hold on to it.
