^Even rich they can detonate, timing is also critical. Ive heard they run rather aggressive timing but have no experience with those units myself.

I do fill up at the same place always with Chevron 92 octane ...

So, after talking to stillen they have confirmed that the plugs that I am using are ok, also, yes detonation is occuring, and they suggested that I check the intercooler pump and that my MAF is not dirty. A dirty MAF will mean that fuelling from the 7th injector is fine because it is based off of boost but the other 6 will be not working correctly.

So, I'll have a look at both of these issues and see what happens ...

First time it was #3 (passenger side middle), second time it was #1 (passenger side front)

I know you did a dyno when you upgraded. Did you see the A/F? You may want to consider putting the stage 3 pulley back on while using the stage 4 pump/injector/map. At least until you get things sorted.

Thru the whole power band or peak? If it's the whole power band, I don't know what to say. If they confirm you were detonating even at stage 3 something else could be wrong. How many miles are on the coils?

Yeah, through out the whole range .... there are 23k on the coils and there is no real way to confirm that I was definately detonating on stage 3 because I never had any issues ....

I have those same plugs in my set up. They were supposed to be pre gapped but the gaps were not all identical. I bought a gapping tool and gapped mine all down to. 040. No misfire or missing thus far.

Further information, I got on it today and then the noise (that we are assuming is detonation) occured, I glanced down at my A/F meter and it said 11.5 ... This is really confusing and starting to **** me off ....

It's probably your timing then. Having a good AF ratio doesn't insure that knock isn't happening.

So, is there anyway that either the crank signal can get mis-read or offset somehow ...

One other point, I have switched over to Shell gas and it has not detonated today so far, but I am getting a little belt slip that I need to look into ...

Do you have a boost gauge? If the split second box was getting the wrong or a bad signal I think it would pretty much go crazy and throw the system into limp mode.

You're in Seattle any weather coorelate to this? Would the SS or ECU be getting wet? (shot in the dark) Are you running any kind of Technosquare flash?

Ok, so, the Shell gas made no improvements, still detonation, AND now when I change up gears I.e. High RPM in 2nd and change hard and floor it then there is not the kick in the pants that I used to get ....

I'm totally gonna strip this thing down on thursday and see what the hell is going on ...

AAM demo'd the cipher program to some FXers. They liked it for the timing control. Maybe it would be useful in your situation.

Yeah, that looks really cool, it would definately help me to figure out if it's an intake temp thing or a timing issue, might just have to jump on that ...
