Default S/C Output.

Whats the max power seen out of the Supercharger kits available out there with a built engine? I'm thinking of buying a Supercharger for my car when I get it ordered until this fall when the car can be put down for some time for a real guild with a TT. I'v been talking to my old sponsors who are also going to sponsor my Z and they want me to be able to do some shows and a few races this summer so alot of downtime as soon as I buy it isn't available now.

I'v heard the HKS S/C isn't worth its money? So Stillen are Vortech are what I need to look into. So stressful trying to prep a new show car, the sweat of the last one was bad enough but I want this car to dominate all of the competition.

The HKS and Stillen look to be about the same WHP . Good trq. down low , but lack hp up top . If you plan on going TT later , but still want to add FI now...I would go with the Vortech . Its cheaper up front and you can go two pullies smaller for more WHP with a good tune

Thanks, I'll look into the Vortech. Heh, I really cannot wait till the end of May.

vortech baby , if you are going SC i would say it's one of the best kits, if i could recommend anything look into going with the tuner kit, basically it doesnt come with with fuel system parts or any engine managment. it's a little cheaper then you can spend the difference from a tuner kit to a full kit on a better fuel system and engine managment setup. i think i remember seeing you can get the tuner kit for $3600 or so, spend the extra thousand on a good return fuel system and another thousand or less on a good engine managment system. 5600 or less you have a nice setup. well, then u need injectors. still though, look into it.

Lou has 475 whp on 10psi right now, he's going to retune later and maybe change a pulley or something for more power. This is still on the regular Vortech blower.

wow, 475 at just 10 psi, thats awsome, i was hitting 400 at 7.9 psi, getting upwards of 9.5 right now. i think i either had a belt slipping or a small boost leak when i got the smaller pulley installed. planning on getting on the dyno soon though.

yeah i'm thinking it actually shouldn't be too hard to hit 500whp with a vortech with 2.87 pulley, cams, headers exhaust and test pipes etc. The issue is can the engine take it? Cause there is going to be some parasitic losses.

My guess is it won't snap rods as hard as turbos would at mid rpms, but would do it up high because of the speed the engine runs at with those power levels

Nice, now that is what I wanted to hear. With some power like that I may not have to drop a TT in there. I am planning to have the engine built to handle the power, and if a S/C can actually put out that kind of power that'd be great, I'v always loved the scream of a S/C kicking in.

yeah, only thing is you might want to run either a larger intercooler or water injection with the 2.87 pulley running 500whp.

keep in mind there is some parasitic loss with the vortech so 500whp is like +/- 540whp as far as stress on the engine, but a built block can handle that with no sweat. Then if that's not enough you can upgrade the blower itself to a T-trim (noisier though) A problem though will end up being the belt slipping probably since the vortech doesn't have the teath going across the belt

The nice thing is that no matter what whp you make with the vortech, you will always have a solid flat tq curve and you still get enough tq to do what you need to on the track.

the ferrari F430 has 480hp and 343 tq, and the enzo has 680hp and 484tq and yet no one seems to complain about their apparent lack of tq - though I'm sure someone out there wishes they had a viper engine in them or something

I def. plan to have my engine built. Been talking to Sharrif in PM's once i get everything settled I'd love to have him do this for me instead of a TT now. My main concern is I'v got to get my Z lookin phenomenal for the shows and kick the **** out of a 2003 SVT Cobra. Hopefully 500hp should be plenty to knock him out..all he has is a Borla exhaust and a new intake. If I can't beat'm we'll atleast be happy to hang with him.
