Default Thanks GRD!

I wanted to say thanks to GRD for doing such a good job on my tune. I have been driving the car a for a couple of weeks now and the job they did was awesome.

At first our tuning session was bittersweet. Desi and I experienced some issues due to the restrictive Nismo Exhaust systems. We would see boost hit as high as 10psi and then drops down to 6psi (in my case 5psi). After adjustments to the actuator rod and boost leak checks we found that the main problem was the exhaust system and my PCV Valve (It has over 70K on it.. Yikes!). After the PCV valve was changed boost held a little longer but still dropped. Turns out the Nismo Exhaust is not adequate for turbo charging, and is just too restrictive.

We were a little disappointed at not seeing larger numbers on the Dyno. However, on the way back home from Austin we could both tell that more was done to our cars than just adjustments and gains in peak hp.

Hanging out with Tuan and Irshod (how the hell do you spell his name ) for day talking cars, tuning, and host of other things is really hard to put a price on. I have a lot of respect for those guys and it was really nice to finally meet them in person.

Our cars run way better than before the tune. There was about a 15 peak hp gain over my base run. I am sure there will be more once I get the APS exhaust systems. The best thing about all this is that guys that really understand the APS systems checked out our systems. If anything were seriously wrong we would know it, so with that comes peace of mind and that is another plus side.

Tuan and Irshod, if your reading this I just want to say thanks for everything. I had a great time hanging out with you guys. I hope you can find your way back to Texas someday.

Thanks again,

Dan

Dyno's are just faking weird... Last time I got "Tuned" my numbers were 350hp and 378ft/tq on a Mustang Dyno at FIS in Dallas. Then when we did a baseline I got 300hp and 340ft/tq MZM in Austin! WTF? On a Dyno Jet I got charts that have 265hp with bolt-ons. Your going to tell I only gained 30hp with a Turbo! LOL I know that Mustangs read low but I almost passed out when I saw my numbers at MZM. Anyway the guys at MZM admit there dyno is about the lowest around. They told me a story of a Viper guy that got pissed because he only pulled 390hp at their shop but on dynojet he was close to 600hp.

Dyno's are all jacked up... I know damn well my car makes good power I just don't have a dyno ***** chart to post up yet So... my final numbers 320hp and 350ft/tq with my car loosing boost down to 5.6psi

This shop knows FIS and says that FIS's dyno is calibrated to match COBB Tunings dyno. I was told that there is a consistant 60hp difference over MZM's Dyno. This seems about right because Desi who had his car tuned at FIS with me saw the same 55-60hp loss on his initial run.

What makes this tune even more amazing is I still gained almost 20hp and 10ft/tq with my car loosing boost! That is tuning! I can't wait till I get my APS exhaust

GRD tuned my car that same day. I sent them an e-mail the following day thanking them. So here's my second thank you for tuning my car as well.

I didn't have a base run for my car because it was lean. But I know it was 406rwhp at Jotech on their dynojet running lean. Then I added a plenum spacers and test pipes. I was at 385rwhp on MZM's Mustang dyno after my tune. I was happy.

Oh Llare, speaking of just "bad luck"...you know how I was saying it could happen to any of us? I had a coolant leak last weekend.

I'd still like to put the car on a dynojet just to see what it would do.
