Can someone explain the power drop towards the end of the dyno runs on the JWT kits?

I don't think anyone is ever going to explain it. I don't think you can ask questions about the kit other than "How sweet is it?" I do not need to be sold on a kit. Every one of these threads turns into a sales pitch or bashing. I just wanted to see some quarter times. At least one guy came up with some times and info. Here's another question. Does anyone have a dyno of a pull all the way to 7000rpms with a JWT kit? Built motor (cams) and stock motor (no cams)? It's all this shadiness that bothers me.

I'm not really sure what "power drop off" we are talking about here...

Yes, the peak power is at 6250rpms, but saying that it "drops off", I'm not so sure on that...if you are referring to 6500rpms, yeah it does when the dyno pull is completed...

Shady? Who is that directed towards?

Anyways, the 530BB is a small fast spooling turbo. You wouldn't expect it to have the top end of a larger turbo. I assume that's what you are comparing the "power drop off" to. Simple as that. To get a little you have to give a little. You can go with the 700BB if you like but expect a little more lag.

Thanks for the pic. At least now we know that 6psi won't max out the turbo. Where are the big dogs with their dynos to 7000rpms?

Cajun Style-you have a ton left in that set-up. Im surprised you didnt trap higher with 400whp. You should be 113-115mph traps. And also-you note that your hitting 5th but with your traps next time cross the line in 4th. Youll hit limiter as you cross. 112mph is redline in 4th, so when you get a good run you'll be hitting 5th. Good luck next time out.

It isn't directed towards anyone in this thread specifically. It is towards the site in general when it comes to the matter of a JWT kit. All the other kits have all the info for everyone to see and make their decisions. Enough people have this kit that we should have seen these things by now. Those 530BB turbos are still bigger than the ones in my Z32 and they didn't lose a thing until 17psi or so and ran hard to 15 psi.

THis is a post from ZLAND in the "at what rpm do you get boost from your TT" Thread

GReddy:
2000rpm = 101/270 hp/tq
2500rpm = 145/310 hp/tq
3000rpm = 212/369 hp/tq
3500rpm = 248/375 hp/tq
4000rpm = 295/385 hp/tq
4500rpm = 340/392 hp/tq
5000rpm = 374/391 hp/tq
5500rpm = 410/390 hp/tq
6000rpm = 428/370 hp/tq
6500rpm = 432/350 hp/tq

JWT:
2000rpm = 120/315 hp/tq
2500rpm = 175/362 hp/tq
3000rpm = 230/397 hp/tq
3500rpm = 292/430 hp/tq
4000rpm = 328/430 hp/tq
4500rpm = 370/430 hp/tq
5000rpm = 415/428 hp/tq
5500rpm = 428/390 hp/tq
6000rpm = 430/375 hp/tq
6500rpm = 430/345 hp/tq

APS:
2000rpm = 99/268 hp/tq
2500rpm = 152/318 hp/tq
3000rpm = 198/352 hp/tq
3500rpm = 238/374 hp/tq
4000rpm = 298/400 hp/tq
4500rpm = 330/384 hp/tq
5000rpm = 380/395 hp/tq
5500rpm = 398/380 hp/tq
6000rpm = 415/360 hp/tq
6500rpm = 400/325 hp/tq

He did a test of all these kits for a write-up in the Sport Z Magazine. So it's the same day and same dyno for comparison.

I also wondered about the drop-off or the fact that VRT seldom publishes charts over 5800 RPM, definitely makes it look like they are hiding a massive drop-off, however, this third party test seems to show how much torque it maintains, better than the APS and very close to the Greddy at 6000+ RPM's.

However, if you look at the lower RPM numbers, the JWT kit blows them away for torque.

All this to say, if you aren't planning on going for really large RWHP numbers, the JWT kit should be able to hold strong all the way to redline, and have the advantage of extra torque at the low end.

i'm obviously not doing something right... isn't there any way i can pick up 2-3 mph if my 60' were better?

point taken on the top speed for 4th gear--I'll pay more attention when at the track next week.

Here's mine. My engine doesn't redline out to 7000 so I wouldn't expect them to push out that far while tuning.

See, now that is one hell of a street car. 400+hp and 400+tq at a conservative boost level. A decent set of tires and practice will get you to 11's (high). Does it still feel solid? How long has the kit been on? If the car can live out it's normal life with this kit at those levels, that would be one hell of a street car.

It's only been on for 3 months or so, but it still feels great. Like I said before though I'm only running 6.5 - 7 pounds of boost right now. We were a little unsure about what the auto tranny would handle so we detuned it down to around 360hp and 365 ft/lbs of torque. I decided to play it very safe. I got my VB upgrade from Sharif installed last week so I'm going to head back down to VRT for a retune / boost controller to try it out at 8.5 pounds.

I asked them for a very reliable very comfortable setup that is pretty good at everything but doesn't necessarily specialize in anything and I feel that's exactly what they've given me. It's a good street car that can perform well at the track.

But I'm an automatic G35. Add 3-4% more drivetrain loss (assuming you are 6mt) and about 400 pounds to the equation.
