Problem with gauges. Need advice.
I hooked my gauges up a few weeks ago using a sandwich plate adaptor that goes between the filter and block. I installed oil pressure and oil temp. I started the car and all was perfect. Oil pressure when cold is about 70 psi and when warm at idle its about 35 psi. I took the car for a drive and while driving oil pressure is normal but the oil temp shoots up very high. When I come to a stop the oil pressure is 0 yes ZERO! When I get rolling again everything is back to normal but both gauges somtimes jump up and down. I thought this was a ground problem so I tried a new ground and its still the same. The only thing I can think of is the sensors have to ground to the block. But the sandwich plate is machined aluminum. Would this effect the ground at all? I dont think I have a oil temp or oil pressure problem. Before the gauges I drove the car a lot in heavy traffic and havent had any problems. Any ideas? Im stumped
STFU Noob!!!!

How does the sandwich plate seal to to the block? I am guessing there is an "O" ring that may be isolating the electrical circuit gound. What spacer/senders are you using?

lol Yeah thats what I was thinking. Theres a rubber O ring. I think I might but a ring connector on each sensor then ground it to the block. Heres the one Im using.

What gauges are you using? Do the sensors have one wire or two? If you have the two wire sensors, then its no the ground, but if you have a one wire sensor, then it most likely is the ground. You can attach a stripped wire to the body of each sensor with a hose clamp then ground it and you should be fine.

Sorry don't have any advice on the wiring of the gauge, just a comment on oil pressure.
At idle, at speed, during hard acceleration, when hot or cold, I see a pretty wide variation in the oil pressure. The oil temp is something else, it's pretty constant.
