A Mean Black and White Statement
Talking about my car of course. After many sleepless nights and lots of walking to work...I recieved my call from the guys at VRT last Thursday to come on by and see my car. Was it true? Was the wait finaly over? Would the TV show Airwolf ever come back with new episodes? 2 out of three of these questions had a deffinate YES answer. I rolled in Friday night in time to watch the final quart of oil fall willingly into my motor. The final steps were being completed before my eyes. The first thing I saw when comming arround the side of my car were the AP Racing 6 pot front brakes and rotors now perched under my front fenders. DAMN they look great. As I continued to look around I found the new sway bars and suspension locked in place, the shiny new plenum on the top of my motor and the equally shiny turbo piping swirling around my engine bay from my new JWT Twin Turbo Setup i had installed. Around this time, Scott showed me the new suspension setup that had been installed on my car. I dont really remember the name of the shocks but I CAN tell you how they drove...like a dream. The setup was a true 4 wheel coilover design. This means that even the rear had a coilover setup instead of a spring seperate from the strut. The stance was drastically lower than stock. I was worried that the ride would suffer but boy was I wrong. The car felt better than stock. We even tightened up the sway bars in the front and rear to their stiffest settings. All day saturday was spent breaking in the new motor. Even keeping the engine at low rpms and taking it easy, the power was very apperent. After a few hundred miles, I finally got into it a bit. On one occasion even having a little fun with a turbo-charged porshe on the freeway.
ANYWAYS. Sunday comes and it was off to California Speedway to really see what the new and improved Z could do. On a fresh set of slicks and the ultra new prototype suspension setup (and scott driving) we hit the track. Still keeping it pretty tame, I was amased how great the power delivery on the JWT twin kit was. As soon as we apexed and hit the gas...we were gone. Cornering response kept up the whole way and I really wish I didnt have to give back that suspension. Oh well, life of a test bed i suppose. A small tip by the way...if you plan on taking your car to a track day...make sure you have better hub bolts than stock. If you change rims at all in between runs...it is kind of hot and apparently the stock lug bolts kind of melt and just strip themselves out.
All in all, the weekend was insaine. Mike and Scott really blew me away with their knowledge and customer service. They went far beyond any expectations I had for them and I am really looking forward to going back there in the future for a built motor. Thx again guys...F'n awesome.

I too wish that Airwolf would come back....
Anyways, car looks awesome (kinda like my twin
) and I am sure it performs even better as do all of the rest of the VRT cars. I am really pissed that I missed the Cal Speedway event, but I am sure we will cross paths again very soon. Are you coming to Vegas in a few weeks for the SpeedVentures event? Congrats again man and have fun with that thing.

Seriously...I could never give enough props to VRT on this one. Not even after I go back in a few months and get a full motor build. I have never had more fun putting miles on a car or shredding super-charger belts then I had last weekend. You guys friggen rock and I hope to go to many a more track day with yall.
