Default Procharged Z =Blown engine.. help!

I am a car dealer, and we took in a 03 350z Prochargered with 16k miles on it.. The car has been here for a while, and now it seems to have lost compression in the engine. What is the best solution to fixing it? How much is a rebuild? Would Nissan fix this under warranty if i take the Blower off? Anyone have a similar situation?

~HELP thanks

Lost compression likely points to rings, maybe some cylinder honing along with that to fix it. This will be expensive-mostly labor and parts depending on where you get your rings from if thats all you decide to replace.

I say pull it apart first. I mean there are alot of gifted people here, but no clairvoyance that I know of. Diagnos it first then ask for advice.

That bottom end is going to need a complete rebuild, with proper forged components. Parts usually run $2000, depending on the parts you select

If you plan on removing the blower, and returning to stock, then I would look for a used VQ35 motor from a junkyard, and swap in the new motor.

The new motor will run you about $3800 plus labor unless you have some better deals as a dealer.

Don't forget that if you do internals you may have to do some tuning unless you use the same compression ratios and what not which may not be the best idea depending on the setup. I doubt they are running extreme boost so you may be able to get by with it.

Pull the charger off and sell it. Sell the blown motor (as blown, of course)

Find a replacement long block and drop it in. A blown motor, with no internal damage will bring a bit of cash in from anyone looking to rebuild. That, added to the money from selling the supercharger should be more then enough to purchase a used VQ35de in good shape.

is the pressure equal across all cylinders? maybe you DID get a low comp built motor in the car. who knows. low comp pistons only get about 145lbs on a compression test, with stock ones reading around 180-185lbs. one or 2 or more unequal though and you most likely have a prob. but it will usually be followed by smoke out the tailpipe.

Sell the charger and the blown motor and get a newer VQ with low miles.. you will make money on the deal.. prolly could get 1000 for the complete motor and 2K-2500 fo the blower and get the newer motor for $2200-2600

if u have no compression on all cylinders, i say something is up with ur tester

If u want to know what is wrong with the motor do a wet compression test and a leakdown test. Any mechanic will know what im talking about.

And a motor just doesnt loose compression - have u apprenticies gotten hold of the keys !
