Was going to buy a brand new M3. Instead bought G35, and with cash left over, I bought wheels, bodykit, suspension, audio/video, and TT kit.

Like people say, don't do it unlesss you can afford the kit and can also scrape together enough in the case you blow your motor.

I personally paid cash...
I couldn't have said it better myself. I paid cash and have enough set aside just in case.

First of all, it's a BAD idea to go thousands of dollars into debt over a mod on your car, that you can't possible get your money back if you have to sell it(IE medical emergency, lost job etc.)

Second, its a REALLY BAD idea to go into debt on a mod that can turn your car into a lawn ornament as many people who have gone FI have realized. The smart ones had the money set aside to rebuild the motor if it happened.

I hear you, I want to go TT myself really bad, but going FI without the cash is like walking off a cliff w/o a chute and just hoping nothing bad happens.

I hate to spend a **** load i can build my motor asap if i wanted but i like having decent buffers in place financialy. I like to give it the live life once factor and then go half way in and do the other half of your car down the road with the money saved.

ALL my mods on my car are paid for. I learned a long time ago that if you dont pay cash they will bite you in the end.

I look at it like this you only live once. Every one has there vice. I know people who go out every weekend a drop couple hundred bucks goin out to clubs etc. If you want something and you are responsible enough to pay it back then get a low interest credit card put like half on the card and disscipline your self to pay a certain amount every month and pay it off. Obviously i would make sure you have a few bucks put away for emergency as well. Ultimatly you are going to do what you want and as long as you enjoy it thats what inportant.

Skyline is gonna be 70,000 plus dealer markup. plus when you get it, it will be stock. and you know you'll want an exhaust, rims, etc. so the argument of saving up for a skyline is a moot point for me. i'll modify any vehicle i own, no matter what i pay for it, unless its a classic.

yeah but a skyline or Z06 or whatever with an exhaust, cats, and intake would be a hell of a lot less headache than a built motor 350Z project with all the bugs to work out etc

It's not a Skyline. It's a GTR.

yup...you only live once, and im glad ive completed my project. To have a FI Z its not just a power thing, its a status thing too. I have a 06 tahoe on 22's with 4 screens, cameras all sort of stuff..IMO i love my tahoe more than my Z, but having a tahoe with 22's and more tv's than your house, isnt ****, because everyone has one. My Z is my baby...i admit it, i love pulling up and showing off this car, attention non stop. There arent that many people that can say "i own a turbo 350z", and with that comment right there, is what makes it all worth it..."i have a twin turbo 350z...that runs 11's, what are you driving?" what is a reply to that, unless you have a exotic. Plus what else looks nicer than a 350z, im just selling mine to fund my brand new GTR in 08.

I know you have asked a similar question before. I think you wanted to take out a loan to get a kit and built engine and we all told you not to do it....
