Default TN durability

I obviously don't post over here very much, but I noticed many people on this sight are running the TN kit. I never even considered using the reflash, untill I noticed many were actually using it and nothing was blowing up.
So, for those out there on bone stock Z's, with the exception of a bone stock TN kit, how is the reflash holding up? Is the reflash Russian Roulette?, or relatively safe?

its a hit or miss from what i here alberto had the flash and he said it was off but there is another member on here that has the flash and has like 30k miles on it. So its a chance you would have to take but if it were my car i would get it some type of E.M

1 1/2 year on flash with no problem. It's my daily driver too.

Ya, I've gathered it runs a bit rich no matter what. It would be my daily driver as well. Just out of fear I would hardly ever go full WOT on it. I fully intend to do a UTEC and fuel return in the future, but I was wondering if I could just get by on the stock kit for a while to get my foot in the door.

do you track your car at all? alberto tracks his car and also has a raised rev-limit so he's not exactly being easy on it. i wonder if the flash is good for a car thats completely stock and almost never run at the track.

Well exactly...Alberto probably had problems because his car was not stock, as the kit is designed for. Thus he moved on to UTEC and all, which are my future plans. I pretty much want to progress exactly as he did, I just don't want to blow it up in between...

I did about 14 runs down the 1/4. Also countless of highway races. Just went to the real track(road course) a week ago with over 12 laps.

The closer you keep the car stock other than the TN kit the most likely the flash will be good. As always guys flash in good shape or UTEC-prepare for the worst and hope for the best

hehe good call...
So Alberto, I've actually read up on a lot of your posts, would you say it's reasonably safe just to run the kit and monitor my A/F closely for a little while untill I can make it out to a tuner and do UTEC? My enginee is bone stock...I've kept it that way for this reason...

Monitoring A/F is a greta idea but after my experience Im not telling anybody your chances are better than 50/50. I also monitered my A/F, my timing, boost, knock, fuel pressure, everything, and my motor failed. To TN's credit Ive seen otherwise stock TN cars hold up very well, and the reflash is usually right on with no additional mods. Good luck to you.

I've been running the flash for over a year and 30k miles. Numerous track days, racing, etc. Never an issue.

it's luck of the draw, IMO it has nothing to do with the kit and everything to do with tuning and how much abuse your particular engine will take

Miaplayer could run any other kit and I'd bet it'd hold 30k miles with a good tune just like his TN is. And Alberto's engine probably would have blown with any other turbo kit even with a good tune - which he had

I think the TN is great kit though and would've opted for it if I went ST

Guys didn't incorporate quality of installation... Even if you go to the most expensive place, they're human.. hard luck to get a perfect errorless/perfect install

I have the TN kit on an otherwise stock G35 coupe. Only mods are MD plenum spacer and a nismo t-stat. Evrything else including exhaust are stock. I have about 3k on it, its my daily driver and no real issues yet.

I have 40k miles on my car and about 3k on the Kit. I have no complaints at all. I have my ECU reflashed but i run a UTEC. The thing is with the reflash is keep the care as close to stock as possible. But everything that that comes with the kit is what you need for a good turbo charged car. You know use good judgemant and ask as many question as you need.

Haha, I've been asking questions since I bought the car in August, but we're getting down to it now...
Thank you every one for your input thus far...keep it coming!
