HELP PLEASE!!! Crank pulley and SC
Okay.. so my car is in the process of having my vortech installed. the shop calls me today and explains how they can not get my UR crank pulley off. They said they have tried almost everything to get it off, and they fear to try anymore because they don't want to damage the crank itself. My first questions is, has anyone heard of this happening before? Second, does anyone know of any tricks to get it off? And third, how bad is it to run the UR crank pulley with the SC? I've heard that it can be bad in the long run, but the shop is telling me that it's not bad for the car, but it will just cause the car to make less boost. Our theory was to run a smaller boost pulley on the SC to compensate for the lower amount of boost due to the UR pulley. ANY ADVISE/HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Any ideas or recommendations to get that f*cker off? I could careless about damaging the pulley itself, but I really don't want to bother the crank.

Your shop needs something like this
http://www.tylertool.com/pos1043jawge.html
The jaws clamp to the outside pulley grooves and the center threaded driver pulls it off by pushing on the end of the crank. No pressure on the crank or bearings since it is exerting all the force at the pulley, not relative to the block.

Penetrant and gear puller as suggested above. Very little risk, and works about 100% of the time. Done it at least a dozen times. Good luck. If your shop does not have a gear puller, I hope they're better with superchargers. I would run in the other direction.

The is a good shop.. I'm sure most of you have heard of GT Motorsports. Talked to Sam today, and they are going to figure something out. I'll find out on Monday when I swing by to drop off a few more things.

damn, I have ur crank pulleys and accessary pulleys also so I hope I dont run into this problem when I take them out.
Is it bad to run it with the UR crank and other pulleys with the vortech under than making less boost? Also, are u sure it will only make 6psi with a 3.12 pulley? So what will running a 2.87 pulley make?

I had that problem when I repleced the OEM pullies with CNR pullies. what I did, I put on an extension on the ratchet ( with the car on the floor, not jackedup) and the ratchet at about 5.00 oclok resting on the floor. Then I bumped the starter (very lightly) and that was it!!!. Piece of cake!!

I've also heard it can cause added wear on your crank over time, causing more problems than normal.

What are you talking about?
I'm saying using the UR crank pulley with the SC will cause more wear than having the SC without the UR crank pulley (i.e. OEM crank pulley)
Who said anything about turbo's and not causing wear?
