Default Belt tightening question for Vortech

Do you turn the belt tensioner clockwise or counter clockwise to tighten the belt?

You will be able to tell after a few cranks if you are going in the right direction. Be sure you loosen the center nut on the Factory Belt tensioner idler first (and remember to tighten it afterwards).

I drilled a 1" hole in the plastic engine shield so you don't have to remove the thing or loosen a ton of bolts every time you climb underneath to increase the tension.

+1 Did this to mine about 12 months ago, but drill a 2" hole.

Where do you guys usually check the belt to see if its tight? I usually turn it between the jackshaft pulley and the top idler pulley-attached in pic. Is this the right place to check? I usually take my thumb and the middle and index fingers and try to turn the belt more than 90 degrees. If it's very hard to turn past 90 degrees, I though it was tight enough. Is this the right method?

Anyways, my belt started slipping the last couple days, but after using my method to check it, it's pretty tight. As tight as when I tightened it a couple month ago, but it is squealing now. I am scared to tighten it any more because I might ruin the jackshaft bearing I just had replaced.
