Default Does anyone know the difference between Turbonetics kits?

There is a #15134 kit:

To my understanding this kit costs less and does away with the factory catalytic converter and just runs to the catback with NO catalytic converter?

Then there is the #15136 kit:

I believe that this kit costs about $250 more and adds an aftermarket catalyic converter to the kit?

The reason I need to know is....

Here in PA i can pass inspection IF:

even though the kit is NOT CARB LEGAL, if it has a visual cat and passes a SNIFFER TEST I can get it passed.

Does anyone have the Catalytic equipped kit?

Does it pass the SNIFFER test?

Does the #15134 kit really require you to run catless??

Does one kit make more POWER than the other???

I have called Turbonetics, checked Vendors websites, and thay all contradict, and YES I HAVE SEARCHED!

Please help out if you know,

Howard

Im not sure exactly what part #'s are what kit, but I can tell you 90% of the kits Ive seen people buy are catless. The cat equipped kit should pass a sniffer but I havent seen any confirmation. Also, of course the cat equipped kit will produce slightly less power. And yes most run catless kits, if you have to pass a sniffer test it wont cut it, you'll likely fail. If you have emissions like here in MD, where new cars dont get sniffers and just get their OBDII ports checked for CEL's you'll be ok, Ive passed with test-pipes....

Thanks Alberto,

This is a big part of deciding between Turbonetics or Vortech.

If you wanted and are inclined to do so, you could buy an optional downpipe with the cat included and swap at the time of the test, in MD its every 2 years after your 3 year new car period. Up to you, Vortech and TN are 2 completely different kits dont let something like this (cuz you can get around it) make up your mind...

And yes you can buy the downpipe piece with the cat on it for roughly $300 and just switch between them when the time comes...

I would just leave the cat on there in case I get pulled over.

The big question is:

Will the catalytic converter version pass a sniffer test?

So it should make about 350rwhp at the minimum to about 375rwhp maximum.

Not too shabby!

MIAPLAYA -

Is the reflash the same for the cat and non-cat kits?

Where can I order the downpipe with the cats seperately for $300 if I decide to go with the #15134 kit?, directly from Turbonetics?

Thanks,

Howard
