Fuel Cell Time!!!!!!!!!
will be putting a fuel cell in my car in the next couple days, will have lots of pics again!!! oh yeah, im crazy...
i just want to get rid of the stock tanks, stock fuel bucket, walbros and all that crap.....
i will be countersinking it down in the spare tire spot and letting it go through the floorboard. then have a nice aluminum sealing lid to fold down over top of it.
shouldn be hard to do. then i can run nice aeromotive fuel pump and be done with it...
and will have a full aam return system for sale with ALL the fittings, lines, parts, bucket, etc....

it will be cake, looking at about 600 dollars in parts, 100 for the fuel cell, 200-300 for the pump, 100 for a thin aluminum pan for it and 100 for lines...
then its all ***** to sawzall the hole in the trunk!! hehe
i have the whole setup (AAM) the bucket is already tapped and working fine. also has the lines off the stock rail, the y to the fuel rails, the line to the FPR, then the return line....
then i can get rid of, two tanks, all the stock hardlines, all the evap at the same time, stock filling hose, stock bucket, stock gas cap.... all that crap

well, here is my thoughts on it, americans have been drag racing their cars for years and years, their products are soooo much cheaper and work well. i am taking what they have figured out, along with the technology of the japanese and trying to make a perfect, very very fast turbo car.
will have pics soon, going to buy some parts today!!!!

Fuel Cell
I'm assuming you don't have to pass an emissions test of any kind. I have a fuel cell installed and would like to go back. Please PM me a price!
Thanks for thinking of me, Todd. Also, thanks for the installation of the methanol kit last weekend!

ok cool, yeah i am in florida, no emissions testing here. i dont drive the car much, but i appreciate you scaring me!!! hehe jk the only thing that would hold me back now is talking to a few people about the Sport RWD class, thats what i want to run in with my car and you cant have a fuel cell, damnit!!!
im about 90% on still doing it. going to look at parts today for sure...
i will pm you as soon as i get it out, please tell me what all you need and through away..

Problem with a fuel cell is the fuel smell - not so good for a daily driver and in NJ you can kiss inspection goodbye - your car wouldn't be street legal anymore. Also - forget about any type of competitive racing, welcome to the PRO class...
AAM Stage II fuel systems support 1000whp - don't understand the benefit or need for a fuel cell.

^^ another good plan Jeremy. There is some great info in the latest Hot Rod magazine about mega HP (streetable) setups. Yes, american motors but some good tips on different setups thay may help us import guys.

ok philthy, i will have a fuel cell recessed into the spare tire well, it will sink down and not stick up above the flat spot that is normally in the trunk, then i will have a hinged sealed top that will go down and cover up the whole setup, this plus venting it outside will not have any fuel smell. fuel cells dont leak out and unless you spill fuel everywhere when adding it in, you will have no smell when done properly...
the reason and benifits are power plus weight savings, thats it, i will be able to support any kind of power i choose and try to make, there are many many METAL parts of the stock system that will be able to come out and replaced with plastic and nylon lines. lots of room for weight savings.
i am leaning towards taking my car to some major import events and making some noise!! dont worry, you will see me soon...
ps edit, i think the first AAM clip on the factory setup is JUNK. i really dont like the whole idea and kinda shocked when i saw the setup. factory plastic clips holding on fuel lines, stock lines up the the front and an 8 -AN line back, then the fuel bucket doesnt even move up and down with the way they have it set up.... wasnt very impressed
