Default Future Costs of going FI...

Do you guys see the costs of FI kits going down in the future? I know APS has the ST price down, but for a limited time only. I wanna know if you think it will eventually start to drop all around the board? I will have saved up enough money to buy a kit this november - december time frame, but decided id save a lil more to get an engine build at the same time, so i was wondering if the price of kits would eventually be about the same state that they are now this year?

I think they will, but with the way the economy is these days, who knows what will happen with prices of parts.

just look at the prices for turbo kits in the honda camp. as long as they can charge x-amount for a kit, they will.

The turbo kit is just one small component, and I dont see prices coming down much at all. If anything, upgrades and enhacments to kits will probably a littel bit of cost, and a lot of safety.

Also keep in mind, that the cost of the turbo kit is just one piece. Labor, accessories, tuning..etc..etc..all add up.

I completely agree with Sharif... you need to incorporate in the cost of all of the incidentals. Gauges, tuning (multiple times most likely) ancillary parts like improving your cooling systems, clutch etc. Most of these parts will depend on whether you stay at stock boost or plan on pushing it higher.

Talk to Sharif or one of the other sponsors here to get a better idea of what HP goals you looking for. Then when you have a better idea, post up your goals and your expected parts list so you can get others peoples input that have these mods or have achieved your desired power goals.

Another thing to consider in cost is the maintenance/repair cost in the future.
Just my .02 anyway.

Always good to budget the cost of a stock replacement motor and tranny just incase of system failure........... OR.............
A heavily modified abused [stressed] engine tranny may be a tough sell when you get tired of the car or you run into changed circumtances.
