Pics of Cossy FI Heads (56K - don't even think about it)

Received these heads from Cosworth UK last week. Some time ago I 've sent an e-mail to Mr.Ken from Cosworth USA asking when they will be releasing the FI heads for 350Z and the answer was:
The heads are designed with both NA and forced induction in mind.
The high exhaust flow will help spool big turbos very fast.

So I asked info about FI heads to my contact in Cosworth UK and I was told that they had 1 set sitting in their facility in Northamptonshire UK. I asked what difference they had and the response was:
Int. Valves and Ex. Valves were resistent to higher EGT temps
Intake: 1250 C
Exhaust: 1000 C
Exhaust runners ported slightly more than the NA heads.
I guess this was all the difference but I'll ask that to Cosworth again to get a more reliable info on this.
I must tell you guys, I've seen Cyl. Heads made in very reputable shops which most of you guys know very well (but no need to tell their names here)
these heads are not even comparable to those.
And the pictures of course.

high lift flow is not the most important spec..by far. you need to maximize flow compared to the cross sectional area/volume of the runner...essentially, you want the best velocity! additionally, pay attention to flow number at valve lifts. if a head flow outrageous numbers at xxx" lift, but you stock cam doesn't come even close to that much lift, what is the point?

I am not a head porting expert myslef, but I have had many a discussion with several, they have all been very adamant that to address the most angles out of a port job, it must be finished by hand..any thoughts? I know we all post pics of heads, they look shiney, some smooth, and oh so metallic

The first thing we shall agree on is that hand P&Polished heads have flaws on them and even with the best job, the runners have some differences between them and this will effect directly the volume of air going in. Also there is no chance of making the same pattern on the ports which will again differ the velocity of air going in thus increasing or decreasing the volume of air going in for each stroke of the cylinder. Another big advantage I saw in these heads againest hand made ones is, angles are not close to perfect in hand made heads. They ARE close to perfect but they are not %100 match in most of the cylinders. All these things will play some role in the power that this engine will make but more important thing is, the amount of air going in every cylinder will be different, which means you won't be tuning every different cylinder correctly (in afr wise) if you don't have 6 O2 sensors working for each cylinder and a standalone to fuel every cylinder seperately. Eventually you'll have leaner cylinders which will be bad for the health of the engine and rich running cylinders which will decrease the power you are making. Seeing close numbers on the flow machine is not a big deal for me coz that will never show the actual flow dynamics of the heads when you will be running them in your car! We've got a pair of nice Supra heads in our shop which we admire the work on them. They are hand made, they are a work of art, BUT they got flaws! The advantage of CNC porting is, angles, patterns, amount of porting is perfectly matched. Maybe the amount of porting is less in CNC heads then some aggressively crafted heads (as CNC heads are a part of serial production like you mention), they will eventually serve more efficiently.
These are my personal opinions, any1 may agree or disagree. Once more I will mention, I'm not trying to bash on anyones work, my honest opinion is CNC machined heads will have much more identical flow between different cylinders, which will produce a safer and higher power (in most cases).
