I would go with dual 3”. More flow is better and allows for quicker spool and less backpressure.
Good luck with your build man.

just curious, but if someone was shooting for 500whp on an inline 6 cylinder engine like a supra or skyline or something, wouldn't a single 3 inch exhaust be big enough?
Most big powersupra guys are running 3.5 or 4 inch exhuasts, and massive turbochargers, that are situated directly on the exhaust manifold. The supra single turbos generate far less backpressure than a typical 350Z single T, since the Z single turbos are running much smaller exhaust housings.

I would steer clear of the APS 3" exhaust.
Would you mind explaining why? The APS 3 inch is the nicest, and high quality, best fitting exhaust I have used to date.

So the APS is the quietest 3"? How does the AAM and SVR compare. I'm assuming you've heard them all by now.

Again, thanks for all the feedback, you are helping more than you guys know!

To the folks that are saying steer clear without an explanation, could you elaborate (I see a couple others asked for an explanation as well but that is making me very nervous considering I was planning on picking up 3" pipes this weekend if highly recommended)

Why?

I know the 2.5 is awesome and I am looking at the 3" as well but have not done so because of the noise factor

AAM is a little bit louder than the APS, and the SVRT I dont recall hearing it in person, but others have commented on the loudness. But I still like them all, honestly...its just personal preference.

Scott told me that when he was comparing his 3' to his friends 3' APS, his was quieter. They're two totally different tones so the 'loudness' hit you in different ways. A quieter bassy exhaust is probably as annoying as a louder high pitched exhaust. You need to find a happy middle ground.
As for why i think the SVRTech exhaust is better, it has an X pipe. However, its header back, so no cats. I think the EVO TT is the best of both worlds. Its not uber loud, sounds sexy, looks great, Greddy quality as well as 2.75' TD piping.
Tpro exhaust is louder than mine, but mine is far bassier. They're equal in my testing: car alarm setting off test. :-D :-D

I have had nothing but problems with the APS 3" exhaust. It looks nice, but trying to get it on the car is nothing but a pain. The flanges on the passenger side run are too close to the driveshaft. So close in fact that they hit! We had to push the whole run over as far as we could to prevent it from hitting the driveshaft. This of course lead the exhaust to hitting another part of the car. Now, the driver's side run vibrates off the support brace at the rear of the car at idle. Also, the exhaust tips are NOWHERE near even! After contacting APS on this issue, their customer service made me never want to buy another thing made by them! Their "fix" for the uneven tips was to cut them. Then, since they did not have the drivehsaft problem with their exhaust on their car, they did not want to believe me about mine. This is AFTER sending them pictures of my exhaust. Also, I have the APS 2 1/2" test pipes. APS said they don't have the problem with the 3 1/2" test pipes installed. But why would I fork out even more money when the crap that I have doesn't even fit right. IMO, the exhaust is VERY FAR from being perfect.

Your experience is definately unique. You are correct, in that with precision machined 4 bolt racing flanges, clearance will be tight. The mounting bar needs to be pushed completely into the rubber grommet to get it to clear. In regards to the tips, almost everything can be adjusted. Having installed all the different brands of 3 inch, I can tell you certainty, that the APS fits far better than anything else on the market, and its quality is honestly second to none.
As all of you know by now, when I started this company, we made it a point never to get married to one brand or one product. We have evolved, and always tried to stay on the cutting edge of what products work, and which ones dont work. I have no vested interested in telling you the APS 3inch is the best exhaust, because, frankly, we sell all the different exhausts, and actually make the least amount of money selling APS.

for the mix of price and sound, you cant beat the greddy evo tt. i have a Tanabe SINGLE 3 inch (had it when i was NA and havent changed it yet) on my car right now and it is fast as hell and put down 500 with a slipping clutch no problems. i dont think you have anything to worry about, at first i thought i was having spooling problems but then realized it was ALL my clutch.

go for sound, they will all work the same as long as they are decent sized true duals IMHO....

^+1. Chances are, w/ a 3' single or a 2.5' TD, the heads will flow less than the exhaust itself. However, heat is the enemy, and thats one place where the 3' TD has everyone beat. 2.5' TD or 2.75TD is the way to go i think.
Sharrif is right about APS fit and finish, but their customer service at best is..wack.

The only time the exhaust fit decent is when it was all loose. Once tightened, it hit everything. I would like to see how you could find the over 2" of adjustment needed for the tips to be even. Not only did I try the install, but a well respected shop in the area tried the install and both came to the conclusion that this exhaust flat out sucks! It may fit far better than the other 3" exhausts, but that still doesn't mean it fits without a torch and welder.

Also, we all know you are well respected on this forum, but I make NO money selling APS products. If they don't fit, they don't fit. I would hate for someone else to buy this exhaust and have the same issues I have.

Tru, I am not disputing that you had an issue with the APS 3 inch. I was pointing out that it was a unique situation.
