Default Dyno Dynamics vs Dyno Jet comparison

As most of you know about a month ago Sam from GTM tuned my car on Sharif's dyno. I made 510whp and 490ft/tq @ 16psi with an a/f of 11.4-11.5.

Today I took my car to a local dyno jet and I made
526whp and 526ft/tq @ 16 psi with an a/f of 10.7. This was SAE corrected with 1.02.

As you can see there is not much of a difference between a dyno jet and dyno dynamics numbers. Assuming that the lower a/f gave me a loss of 25 or so hp if you add that in I would be at 550whp and 550ft/tq on the dyno jet which is not even 10% more than what I orginally did on Sharif's dyno. I will post the dyno jet graph when I get home as I have to take a picture of it to post it.

Lesson of the day: Don't correct your dyno numbers to try and simulate other dynos. I am glad Sharif didn't add anything to mine cause I would have been pissed to get lower numbers.

We have a winner-I wish everybody saw it that way...thanks for sharing. Of course numbers will always vary but I am a little surprised you didnt dyno more on a dynojet-you see we were all wrong in assuming it was more of a difference between the two-now we have a better idea! OT-why is your A/F so much richer now? Doesnt that HKS unit have some temp comp?

yeah the FCON has correction tables, but it's never going to be perfect. To get a full standalone perfect would take several days of tuning. Either way I am happy. I am a little safer a/f wise and I made just a c-u-n-t hair more power.

I'd be more concerned with the lower Dyno Jet A/F ratio than the power #'s.. What would explain the difference.. What if you tuned to the lower ratio and if the 11.4-11.5 was correct you'd be in the 12/13 maybe.. What gives here.??.

Could it be caused by a change in humidity or sea level? I don't really care honestly. The car is not unsafe the way it is and I still made more power.

how do we know how that particular dynojet was calibrated? I've gone to two different dynojets when I was NA and they both had drastically different numbers - 262whp and 281whp with the exact same mods except the 281whp had my wider wheels/tires (still barely havier than my stock track model rims were)

When I went to a dynodynamics dyno, my initial NA #'s were around 260whp before they added my piggyback and tuned it

if every dyno is different and every other factor to #'s, how does anyone know if someone's "500whp" car is faster than someone else's "300whp" car? I mean how can anyone communicate by saying they're shooting for such and such #'s or that 400whp is safe if no one really knows what 400whp is?

I thought a bunch of shops with dynodynamics dynos were using the +13% correction factor on the dynodynamics dyno to give similar #'s to dynojets? Wasn't there a big *** thread a year or so ago and people were complaining saying the #'s for certain shops were inflated?

so if I'm making 400whp on a dynodynamics dyno and that's now supposivly around whatever similar whp on a dynojet, then I suppose I can add a LOT more boost to my car - but how can anyone know what power level I'm really running?

is the dyno difference a % difference or a fixed amount of power difference - like 15whp?

You are soo on the dot. I hate how ppl inflate their numbers by adding 10% to their orginal dyno results just bc they think one dyno is producing less hp.

Therefore, if u dyno on a dyno dynamic and u get 360hp, please don't think you will gain 10% more if u dyno on a dynojet unless u have BOTH dynos to back it up.

there's someone local here who tuned on the same dynodynamics dyno i'm on, then went to a local dynojet - one i've been to, and ran 11.7% higher # on the dynojet. Since I use those same dynos, I've generally thought the 10% inflated dynojet # was fairly accurate
