A testament to Turbonetics ball bearing section and customer service..must read!
So I recently helped someone out locally (not on this board) who was a first time turbo owner and did a self install. He contacted me regarding some questions on install. Most of the fixes were easy until he mentioned that his turbo was loud and sounded like it had rocks in it. I had him check the oil feed to the turbo and there was no oil in the line. I verified where the oil feed line had been installed and it turns out it had been connected to the AAM pan spacer oil temp bung. Clearly this means no oil was getting to the bearing section of the turbo. The turbo was run for 200 miles like this before it finally gave way. The bearings are most likely toast after this. One other issue with the install was that the wastegate signal line had been installed on the incorrect port so in addition to running with no oil the turbo was being spooled to 12-16 PSI any time the car was loaded. Lucky for the owner no engine damage occured that we know of. I called Reggie at Turbonetics and of course Turbonetics will be replacing the turbo at no cost to the customer. Hows that for some customer service and one hell of a bearing section too!!

Turbonetics customer service is without a doubt top notch. If they made a TT kit, I bet they could corner the market.

For most things, the dealer still has to wait on the company producing the goods. Trust me, thats how it always is. I've learned to stay w/ local shops for work, and stay within the US for goods.
After my turbonetics install we found out the turbo came with a bent shaft in the turbo housing. turbonetics overnighted the new turbo no questions asked. very good customer service. Now I have an extra turbo. who refurbishes turbos?

Back on topic though customer service goes along way in either direction. I hope aps has to drop prices even more to make up for their lack of it.

that's the key here. People have problems when their dumbass friends come in and say "oh that's not how you do it, my buddy's cousin did it like this on his turbo merkur".
The directions are pretty stupid proof. I read them in an exhausted stupor and was still able to get everything right the first time.
however, Bertie is still a fat slow bastage
