Default Motor build up questions.

Alright so after doing a little research, I think that if I do decide to go FI, I'll be changing some internals on a motor. There is also a possibility that I just might go all NA out and get some high compression pistons and agressive cams and whatnot. But I basically plan on getting new pistons, rods, and studs and then rehoning the block. I guess my question is, which vq35de engine can I use on my 350z? I can basically use any (quest,altima,g35,fx35,maxima, etc etc...)? If cant use all of them please let me know which ones. Sooner or later I will be looking for another engine to work on.

None of the FWD motors will work(ie: altima, maxima, etc) because the block has different mounting points for the motor mounts.

We usually have a few block lying around ready to build or already built..IMHOO going N/A with high compression is not the way to go, you will be very prone to detonate on pump gas and will not make the power you can make going F/I. Stop in or give us a shout for some of your options...

Any RWD VQ35 will work just fine.

If we can help you with forged parts, or hard engine parts...feel free.

Does anybody know yet with 100% certainty that the non-revup and revup blocks are exactly the same? Can you bolt a set of revup heads on a built 03-05 block?

Yes, the blocks are physically the same...externally. Rev Up heads or non-rev up heads will bolt right up.

The man always knows his stuff. Do you know if our stock sleeves are aluminum or iron? And do our timing chains need replacing?

The block, sleeves and heads are made from aluminum. Timing chain is good and we have yet to replace one..

Actually, the cylinder walls (liners) are made from iron. The outer walls of the cylinder are aluminum, but the inner sleeve is made from iron, and pressed into place. Full Aluminum sleeves would never hold up to the stresses.
