I was on the 25 south from Santa Fe to ABQ on Friday and that downpour was pretty heavy at times. A few times during that drive the wipers were about useless.

Same thing happened to me w. the turbonetics kit.
The filter they supply is paper based filter so it gets soaked
up in the rain. I have an aftermarket bumper which does reveal
the filter. Only thing that is in the way is the mesh grille.
Anyways, I switched out the filter to a K&N filter and I hope
I don't encounter this problem again. I should probably get
a hydro shield though..

I hate these threads especially when I'm just about to drive my Z in a crazy downpour this morning in Chicago.

Happened to me once before.took the car to work and when i got off the freeway i saw water running like river along both side of the street,it been raining for 2 days straight.well i can't really throw it in reverse and back off to the freeway so i was praying then attemped to runn over the 1 1/2 ft deep water...bad idea.end up pushing the car to a nearby shop in the rain and spent all day change filters, disconect all piping, suck water out using wet-n-dry vacuum and blow dry the Maf sensor...that's why i bought a pick up trunk for daily grinder

I do have an '01 civic I drive in the winter as my "beater", but my wife needed it this AM.... so I had no choice but to use my Z. I didn't have any major issues this morning, I just avoided puddles and what not. Other then that, dont really care if the car sees rain or not since I have like 10+ layers of Zaino.

That is some crazy chit. I was listening on the radio today of some road closures due to flooding. Thank Gawd I didn't have to go on those routes... honestly, as illegal as it probably is, I would have turned around in tht situation!

Unless you drive through deep standing water, it shouldn't cause any problems. I drive mine every day without the undertray installed and you know how much it rains in Oregon......

^ I've also been thinking of moving my undertray is it is a bit lower then the stock OEM position and CONSTANTLY scrapes on bumps....

Don't worry, I drove mine in Chicago last year right after a snow storm. DURING, actually! Withing hours, the entire highway was nothing but slush and water. Never had any problems.

Apparently, they changed it to an AEM filter. (I think) But I know for sure that it is paper based.

Same thing happened to me earlier this month. It was raining the whole day and I had to go to one of our off site locations and it was raining hard as hell in the morning and even harder in the evening on I-95. I figured out what the problem was but didn't think anything of it. I've driven in pouring rain many times but I didn't think other people had the same thing happen. It hasn't happened again since that one time.

Yah in my opinion i don't think its the maf taht is saving you guys but its the sheer weight of the water blocking the intake tract and preventing enough air getting into your engine.
