Default Can traction control hurt the motor?

Doesn't traction control work by lowering the fuel? Could the A/F ration get too lean and cause pre-detonation?

TIA

Id say no, its just like when you hit limiter its not going to blow your motor. But I wouldnt advise to be hitting it all the time. When I plan on boosting I turn off the VDC, anything in the first 4 gears at WOT and it kicks in....

TCS works by reducing throttle opening when it detects drive wheel slippage.

this is slightly off topic, but i was wandering if you all notice a big acceleration difference on clean, dry pavement with traction control turned off. a friend of mine and i are forever arguing this point.

With twin turbo's, methanol injection, and a built motor, yea I guess you can say I notice big acceleration on dry pavement . I think you are talking about in stock form right ? When I was stock it did seem to have more acceleration with vdc turned but its probably all just in our heads .

TCS is a booger, I have same size wheels all around and if I come around a curve a little fast it comes on not because I have slippage but becuse the computer thinks it is spinning!!! I turn it off every time I get in the car except when it is raining or it spins like crazy. I dont think it would make your engine detonate. It is a program in the ECU.

It shouldn't make a difference, but yes if you are boosting a lot and putting down good power there is a good chance of spinning like Alberto stated. I always turn it off myself, I feel safer when there isn't a slip sensor that could hold me back.
