For some reason I have never had the problem with the coils and the EU. I have calibrated my wideband a ton of times and have never fried a coil. I have even done the ecu clear thing multiple times (you know the, turn the key to the on position and wait 3 seconds, then pulse the gas every second for 5 seconds, then release for 7 seconds, then hold the gas for 10 seconds...crap) So, I don't know what the deal is with the coils and the EU is.

i think it's possible to hurt a coil, but not totally fry it

the biggest pain in the *** is having to tell EVERYONE to keep the ignition either off or have the car started.

yea...thats the worst. I don't trust anyone to touch the car but myself. The idea of something messing up on the car because of someone other than myself really bothers me.

Just pull the ignition plug off the EU itself, then you can leave the key on for as long as you need.

This is correct, just do that and you don't have to worry about damaging the coils.

yeah, that's not so easy though if you have the EU mounted somewhere either way under the seat, or against the frame under the plastic panels

It's the smallest plug, 12 pin. Don't confuse it with the 14-pin plug, which looks pretty similar (but clearly bigger)

the small connector on the far right.

You wont fry it by leaving it on for 1 minute...which is all it takes to cal the wideband.
