Well.. the car was setup properly at some point prior to my ownership.. it came with some Dyno runs that show 359WHP..

At some point, and I would like to think recently, the intake hose came off... I have not heard back from the prior owner yet, but with the records that were in the car when bought, it shows that it's been boosted since 11K miles.. it now has 39K.. I put on 1K since I had it.. so roughly 27K miles being boosted... so this makes me wonder what could have happened. If it had been running properly for that many miles.. and then lets say it wasn't for a thousand or maybe 2, why would it blow the motor now and not then?

All in all it seems like to me that something might have happened when my buddy drove it.. but I am not sweating it anymore.. I just got a call from the mechanic I spoke with this morning about doing the motor swap... he has the SC sold for me, through his brother in FL. And for what he is paying me for the SC, this will cover not only the cost of the 2nd motor, but the motor swap as well with a few extra dollars left over..

So in the end.. I get a stock motor with 4K miles on it vs. 39K.. No more SC, but even then, I only got to experience it for lets see.. 1 hour? It's almost as if I never even had it..I wish I wouldn't have had a taste of the power difference as I am always going to crave it from this point on.. But now that I will have my current block as a core.. I can proceed with getting a built short/long block if I decide too and build this knowing what I have inside and out.. which is the way it should be from hearing everyone's input and reading through these forums... Yeah.. it sucks.. it would have been sweet if everything was peachy and I was still cruising with the 359WHP.. But lesson(s) learned.. my keys NEVER leave my hands..

Regardless, the feedback is always appreciated..

See you are assuming WAYYY too much here. All the signs point to detonating causeing the motor failure. You fixing hte boost leak only confirms this.

Somewhere along the line, someone has changed something since the dyno. You motor ran for 1k miles with forced induction, hence it is is a tuning issue.

If you bought it from a dealership shouldn't it come with some type of warranty on it? Most at least offer a 30 day or something power train warranty.

Damn man if I would have saw this earlier, I would have helped you with the motor swap. My uncle and I have a shop in gretna and I could have gotten it done for you. Good luck with it any way. Oh if you ever see a TB g35coupe in the area, that would be me.

The dealer sold the car "as is"..

actually, with a 30 day warranty on "safety components"... you know.. just incase an airbag decided to go off in my face while driving...

z2g, If i wasn't already committed with someone, I would look into your offer, but thanks anyway man.. I'll keep an eye out for you locally..

ATI claims that this kit with a 7psi pulley doesn't require any mods to the stock internals..

As far as the ems, it's installed with what came from ATI..nothing aftermarket past that..

as far as high mileage, would you consider 38K high miles??
Your exact story was told to me by a guy that pulled into the shop I use . He bought a 350 Z with a ATI blower on it . Boosted a few times and now it misses like crazy . Broken ringlands and bent rods .

Sounds like you have no engine managment system and only have what came with the kit . Put in the used motor in and find a good EMU to put in it . Good luck

a bent valve was the outcome.. I am not going back in with the supercharger.. I am going to replace the motor with my spare and roll stock for now..

NoLimit... you could hear the motor "ticking" and it drove like ****

The car will be back on the road early next week so all is good...

yo man i live in prairieville. my buddy and i might be able to do the engine swap for you. it'd prolly take us about a week as well. let me know how much the dealer is charging and i'll see what we can work out. It's about an hour drive from N.O. to here.

Sounds like your bud got on it, redlined third, and crammed it back in 2nd.

Yeah.. thats what I figured happened..

Does anyone have any idea about when the CEL would have went off after the valve would have bent? He said the car was about 3000Rpm and doing 50MPH when it registered... how long does it take for the car to notice something is wrong and throw a CEL after it actually happens? I am just curious is all...

lo$t, thanks for the offer man... but it's already in the shop getting work done on it.. but in the future I may need some help with another swap out after I build a new engine..

Thanks all for the input..
