Default big boost leak

the pipe running into the bottom of my turbo has completely came off. i think because its rubbing on the inside of the car. i think maybe i have a broken engine mount? i dunno, but DAMN i tried to put it back on and it slid right back off the next time i got on it. AGGRAVATING!!!!!!!!!!!!! any other suggestions as to why this would be blowin off?

Running into? Are you talking about the intercooler piping on the bottom side of the compressor? If so you probably just need to reattach it and make sure the clamps on it are tightened down properly.

+1 on clamps the kit fits pretty well so unless it's installed wrong I cant think of much else. A broken motor mount is pretty extreme, I wouldn't put money on that. If I recall correctly and you remove the driver side fender liner you can get good access to see whats up.

If the clamp is too low it's very easy for it to slide off.

Is the silicone coupler covered in oil? If it is then your turbo oil seal is leaking. The only way to prevent it from getting coverted in oil and blowing off again is to fix the leaking seal. Until the seal is fixed you might as well not drive the car. I am in the same situation.

... yeah there is barely enough clearance. i have to use a prybar to move my turbo to the side to put the hosing back on. it rubs right there on the headlight mount i think and i think when i get on it, the little shift of the engine just from torque is inching it off little by little til it pops off. Thanks for that idea.

Jet, i will also be checking for oil leakage. thx.

to the other guys, I already put it back on and tightened it down. And i know about taking all that plastic off. i did the install on the turbo. Sharif went over it, to make sure everything was tightened down. I am pretty sure it was all installed right.

a little off topic, but are they gonna send you a fourth turbo? three turbos in a row with bad seals doesn't sound right......

I removed the turbo yesterday and examined the oil return line and it was fine. There were no kinks in it, and it ran downhill all the way to the pan. There is no reason why this should be happening. The seal was bad from the begining as soon as we installed it on the car it was smoking so it wasn't something that happened over a period of time. It was back from a fresh rebuild at Turbonetics. The only plaussible answer I have is that the turbo was somehow not rebuilt as unlikely as it may sound. I sent the turbo in and they will be examining it and I guess rebuilding it again.

Consuming oil and losing a seal would be two different things. And the oil flow of the turbo is on the QC tag as well.
