Default VQ35 to Chevy Tranny adapter....thought somebody might like this

While I was browsing around the web for intake parts to fabricate a plenum I ran across something that some of you high hp drag racers might be interested in.....VQ35 to Chevy Auto Tranny Plate adapter.... http://www.rossmachineracing.com/vq35transadapt.html

If everyone already knew about this I'm sorry, but figured it wouldn't hurt to post it.

I remember last year seeing a couple guys who had made their own.....but this is great to see. A reputable company making this stuff. The turbo 400 is ideal for the big hp applications that the VQ auto tranny's have a little difficulty with.

That is pretty freakin cool. I wonder how much money and what it would take to do this conversion. I have already rebuilt my tranny once and would like something more reliable.

Been thinking of the same idea. This makes it much easier!

You can get turbo 400's for relatively cheap at any Chevy swap meet or classic car wreckers. A few hundred bucks and a rebuild.

I know a TH400 or something similar would be wayyyy more reliable and would make me faster down the 1/4, but me drive an auto, and in the Z? NEVER, Id rather change my tranny 1X a year and be working on my car all the time than be a homo, pull up to the line, powerbrake and call myself a good driver..

For a car with as little power as our 350z's, I feel the same... why bother with auto. I would say that if you got 1000+ hp, sure, why not. But I would rather actually drive the car if its only a 10 second car.

LOL, ONLY a 10 second car..Actually Performance Motorsports ran their street tire car to 10.30's on the 6 MT. They used to wreck a tranny a week, and had about a dozen trannies line up in their shop at all times. The 6MT's are weak sauce in our cars ans are in dire need of someone building upgraded parts for them.

This is insane. I've never thought I'd see words "only" and "10 second car" in same sentence regarding the Z...

ahhh come on, these cars make easy power into that range. Especially now that the path is paved for 500-550rwhp. Anyone that isnt sloppy could toss together a 10 second Z, its just that no one is actually trying. Plenty of us have the power, just not willing to really go all out with the whole drag racing thing. I have thought about it plenty of times, it just seems so wasteful to do it to a new car unless you are really $$$$$$.

There are probably well over a dozen cars on this forum that could run well into the 10s if just the owners would:

1: spend a few grand setting up for drag.
2: make 20-30 passes down the track.
3: fixed things as they broke immediately and went back to the track.

With those steps employed, theres more then a few of us here who would be running those times. Its just pretty apparent that not many of us actually care much to get that timeslip - its right there waiting to be had, but who is actually reaching for it?

since you are manual transmission challenged..

03 base = $15k
GreddyTT Kit w/ built motor and yadda yadda = $20k
TH400 and what not = $1000?

$36k?

I already have a 03 touring.

I briefly tossed around the idea of the chevy 4-speed tranny swap, new driveshaft, electronics issues, etc, so I doubt that a 1000$ would cover it.
