FI for a 2004 Roadster
I have a 2004 Touring Roadster, I want to put a FI setup on it. I've been anxious about what to get since I got this car. First, I love this car, it drives like a dream. My last "Sports Car" was a Porsche 914 2.0". I loved that car too but that was 25 years ago, so yea, at work they say I'm in midlife chrisis with this Z.
First I wanted a Stillen S/C, then a Vortech or ATI, then Stillen.... My needs are simple, I want more power, not excessive pushing the limit pucker factor power. What I want is mid-range rpm torque low end power for normal driving (not 1/4 mile) accelleration. The driving factor is CARB requirments as this is a daily driver so smog tests and reliability are paramount, my commute to work is 70 miles each way.
Yes I know that the turbo kit's are a better bang for the buck and are very reliable. Look here ( http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php ) and you'll find that in california that there are no CARB legal turbo kit's. JWT last listed in 04 that carb certification is pending but it's 07 and nothing yet.
I've pretty much decided on the stillen. The questions I have are:
I don't trust Stillens fuel control system, is there a after market fuel control/timing system that will work with the stillen S/C? Also I want to set it up as a stage 3 system first, then just change the S/C pulley/injector to a stage 2 and the fuel map so as to change for smog testing. Any Ideas? All this has to be CARB legal.
