If you're on a stock motor I would recommend keeping the stock rev limiter. Revs will be much harder on the internals than the extra power.

My car is from 2005 and the block is still stock. An oil cooler is added and water methanol injection will follow soon.

Why would that matter?? I see what you're getting at with the 287hp/300hp rev-up thing, but the rev-up's rev limiter is already right around 7200..so if they want to "raise" the rev-limiter to 7200 then he obviously has a car with the 287hp motor.

then why would they want to raise it? with no cams i dont think the 287hp motor has anymore power up there anyways. i was also thinking if he had a revup for safety reasons they might "set" the limiter there. sorry i looked to much into it.

yah dont raise the rev limiter.... you would need to do internal upgrades if you wanted to do that

i ran 7000rpm on stock 287hp engine for quite a long time, at over 450rwhp. but the lower you keep it the safer.

I think it depends on a lot of things. How hard you drive, who and how close to the edge the person tunes your car, if you have any other supporting mods. I have some supporting mods done to my car to try to keep detonation down. My rev limiter was raised and I spun a rod bearing after 10k miles. However I've seen others on here that have run many more miles than me that have raised theirs without issues. I will say this, I do drive my Z very hard. I do think that methanol injection will definetly help too.

And here I wanted to make this motor REV like a Honda and go to 8k.

450WHP revving to 8K... Now that would be fast... Less coast time... (Unless you want to mangle the tran.)

Do you think a properly built motor can make it to 8k?
