Thumbs up APS Dual Exhaust First Impressions

APS Dual Exhaust First Impressions

I'm so lucky living next door to APS, well not right next door but not far away, next suburb. My car is now proudly kitted out with the all new APS Stainless Steel Dual Catback exhaust, the fit and quality is fantastic it's a shame its all under the car except for the tips, which are a work of art in them selves. Some back ground info before we go any further, my car was fitted with an Australian HiTech Catback system which I loved, it developed extra 15rwkw and sounded pretty cool but as I was ordering the ASP Twin Turbo kit I wanted to have the complete APS system ie; exhaust to match the TT. Let me say that I was not expecting it to perform well on a NA car, boy was I wrong the car seem to be very responsive to the throttle and my bum says its quicker it pulls much harder, I’ve had no time to get it on the dyno yet will try to post results as soon as I can. There is no droning that I can detected at any speed and on a light throttle you can just hear it above the engine, but on WOT it sound very much like the 996 Porsche, just awesome. I particularly like the four bolt racing style stainless steel flanges and the attention to detail, like being able to refit the air deflector from the OEM muffler (which I haven’t had time to fit as you can see in the photos) and keep the car’s aero dynamics as close to what the Nissan engineers designed for this car’s. All in all this a great exhaust, a well thought out top notch system, if this is a taste of things to come I can wait for the TT.

That's an interesting looking system. The left side tailpipe goes into the side of the muffler and the right side tailpipe goes into the front. I'd like to know what the path looks like inside the muffler.
I would guess they are separate because the muffler is huge, and the right side extension (tip) comes out of the rear side muffler, the same as the left input tail pipe.

WOW that exhaust looks amazing!!!! I think I will be going with this exhaust.

I think they were quoting prices in the $950's.

Hey David great to read your post and I'm thrilled to know that you're highly impressed with the performance and quality of the APS true twin 2.5" cat back exhaust system.

The intent of this APS cat back exhaust was to have very low back pressure at even 600 + Horsepower and I'm confident that the APS cat back will deliver the goods when required at very high Horsepower when used in turbocharged or supercharged applications.

Again thanks for your kind words and I hope you really enjoy the awesome exhaust note from the 350 Z with APS cat back system...........now you only need is to add a couple of Garrett dual ball bearing turbos.

Correct both inlet pipes (left and right bank) to the main muffler are seperate and exhaust gases run through seperate perforated 2.5" inch tubing which are contained within the main muffler...........this way the exhaust gas flow is awesome and the back pressure is extremely low.

Just to confirm the gas flow.........the left exhaust bank exits the right tail pipe and the right exhaust bank exits from the left tail pipe.

Thanks

Great to know you like the APS cat back.......it feels like it took forever to develop though the end result justifies the huge effort.

Looks like the MSRP will be $1195 though I'm positive when you see and hear the system (the exhaust note is awesome in the higher RPM range) for real that you will see the value in the product.

I just love the 4 bolt race flanges (made in 304 stainless steel) this eliminates any chance of exhaust gas leaks and the system goes together like clock work.

Thanks

Peter

Thanks for the info. Can you give us more info on the test pipes, Are they resonated?

Also when do you think we will have dyno numbers for the exhaust?

2 Questions:

Will you make one for the G35 Coupe?

Will this be inappropriate for people who are going N/A only?
(i.e. too little back pressure + no turbos -> loose much low end)

thanks/

Inappropiate no, its perfect for N/A as I said in my impression it is making better power and torque than my previous HiTech exhaust and thats across the entier rev range checkout the HiTech specs here http://www.everything350z.com/ubbthr...__1.html#1250. and this will give you an idea of now much power its making, I would'nt be surprise if it (the APS exhaust) has the highest output of all the current available exhausts.

May I also add, this is a quality product from a top notch bunch of automotive engineers and design team at the APS engineering facility.
