Default vortech blower fluttering

Hey guys I got my vortech up and running but im having a strange problem. Whenever I rev it above 2800 rpms the blowers starts to make a LOUD fluttering noise like a bov would make. The bov is also fluttering but is much quieter than this. I just checked it right now and I can feel lots of air pulsing out of the air filter area at the same rate as the fluttering. Any ideas as to what this is? Why would air be coming out of the air filter?

DO you have a vacuum hose hooked up to the top of the BOV ? How many threads are showing on the adjuastment bolt that is right next to where the vacuum hose hooks up to ?

Yes the hose is hooked into the BOV..

Man I would have to say not many threads are showing at all...

I went to his house late last night and took some video of the blower doing it.. I uploaded to streetfire and am just waiting for it to 'optimize' then I will post the link..

You should have at least 6 complete threads showing above the nut on the adjustment bolt . But from what you are discribing , you may have something blocking the IC , or IC pipe . This is a stupid question [ but Ive done it with a new radiator I installed on my truck ] did you take off the end caps [ light blue ] On the IC and or the end of the blower before you connected them together ?

Hey fellas.. thanks for the replies..

This Vortech is my buddies and he installed it within the past week or so.. It was a used Kit so as far as any endcaps I dont believe there were any on the piping..

Late last night before I showed up with the video camera, he undid some of the piping and the blower ran perfect.. I am not exactly sure as to what part it was, but from what he told me, the blower ran great..

Here is the link to the vid..

VORTECH BLOWER ISSUES

As soon as iT finishes I will post in this thread.. Again, thaks for the help fellas, its much appreciated!

So 6 threads? Ill go check that right now. As far as something blocking the piping here are the steps I have taken to diagnose the problem:

I unhooked the cog belt and ran the car without the blower...car ran perfectly fine
I put the cog back on and unhooked the piping right before the MAF sensor...got the sc up to 6k rpms and no compressor surge. I could feel it pushing air out the pipe.
I cleaned all the piping before putting it on the car and there was nothing blocking any of the pipes. The car will drive fine under 2800 rpms. It's when it starts to build boost that the compressor surge happens.

Does the BOV have air coming out at idle ? Can you hear it whistling ?

How do you get 6 threads to show with the nut on? I just took the nut off because it was super tight and there are only 4 threads showing w/o the nut...

We are both talking about the adjustment bolt ...the largest bolt sticking out of the TOP of the BOV . ? If so that bolt is adjusted way to far in ...I didnt think it would go in that far to begin with .

is it supposed to be open at idle? Yeah the bolt was wayyy too far in...only 4 threads were showing. I have it off the car now and am fixing it.

The 6 or 7 threads showing should be above the nut after its tight . This is how it is adjusted . The more thread showing the later it will close . ANd yes ...its should be open at idle !!!!!! lol

Thanks a ton booger! that was the problem all along. The bov was set too tight and it wasnt relieving any boost pressure. My god this setup is LOUD now!
