My guess would be expensice as dry sump is simply that... expensive. There is non avalible in a kit form right now but you could most likely make one or have a good company make you a one-off but you better need it before you go about spending the large amount of money that you will need to get it done.

I need to call them to get some details about that setup. Just out of curiosity for now.

It's a complete system with external pump - Just give Charlie a call at Weston Machine and tell him Phil Petracca posted some pics of his VQ35 girdle drysump system and he'll provide you with all the details...

The girdle and pan alone are $4500, not to mention the extensive machine work required. Then you add things such as the pump for ~1000, reservoir, lines, etc and you approach the 10k mark.

yep - big money... I'm not running it on my setup, complete overkill on my power levels... There are a few pro teams running it though, and their power levels were over 1700whp last time I checked in... The problem that was reported at those levels was related to the block splitting in half like a wish bone

So nobody on this forum is running dry sump. I am planning to make 600 to 700 hp on my block but just wanted to know if anyone was using dry sump on that power level. I wanted to change my rev limiter because this can perfectly be done with my built block, but than I need dry sump so I wont mess it up.

I think a few people have looked at the Dry Sump option... but the cost of entry is just to high for a street car.. Maybe if you were building a custom race car..?

I am sure going with a decent return system will be enough for 600 - 700 whp. I thought raising the stock rev-limiter had more to do with upgrading the valvetrain and all of it’s associated springs/retainer/guides etc..?

How many people have actually thought they really needed them for out cars? As far as I know, I haven't heard anyone complaining about oil starvation and spinning bearings really. Has this been happening and I just didn't see it?

At those power levels and keeping the rpms to 7200ish - a revup oil pump is more than sufficient...

A friend of mine is really convincing me to do it. His engine blew up because he had no dry sump system. But it was a skyline gtr 33 on 600rwhp. As you guys say, its just to expensive. I have just bought a built block with cosworth heads, solid motor mounts, oil catch can, HKS DLI II, .... this in combination with the aps tt kit and 3"exhaust and 3.5" dp and JWT clutch and flywheel. First a tune at 530hp and than the aps extreme fuel system and a tune at 600-650hp. That will be more than enough for a road car . I blew up my standard block, I wont do that twice.

I'm thinking of running a dry sump as well as I'm planning to run slicks on a circuit car. From the general consensus, most of the local race car drivers and their mechanics don't recommend running slicks without a dry sump due to possible oil starvation during cornering.

Anyone with any experience in this?

You can correct oil starvation by an accusump and a baffled oil pan.

I believe the reason for adding a dry sump system where to lower the engine (lowering the CG of the car) and ensure that oil is always supplied to the car.

But, the baffled oil pan and accusump you can ensure that oil is always supplied to the car also, so the only reason I can see is lower the CG of the car.

Kind of an expensive way to lower CG IMO

I agree that it is expensive way to lower CG.

Canton will build custom dry sump pans:
