I thought you were moving to Texas somewhere. I realize it is a LONG way from New Orleans. Don't sell it man!

Well I am running off a map that was put on my utec since the tune didn't work. I plan to get it re-tuned as soon as I can. Hard for me to take time off in this buisness.

A very interesting and timely thread for me…since I just bought a new long block from SGP. They were recommended by the guys at Corner 3 here in OC. The guys at Corner 3 have been great to work with, so I valued their input. So far, I have found the service to OK. They are knowledgeable and worked with me to reduce costs as much as we could and still be safe for my engine goals (500 WHP).

I have had to track down the status of the engine on more than a few times. The initial quote was 2-3 weeks for the engine build. We are at 4 weeks and it is supposed to ship today. YES! Like many, custom/performance shops I have worked with they have a somewhat casual sense of time. They do need to work on setting the right expectation with there customer. I look forward to sharing more of the experience with the install and tuning process.

+1. I could care less if they took a year on my car. I don't rush them so they do it right. I can understand wanting your motor in a timely manner though. Keep in mind if the machine shop is backed up, so is SGP's lead time.

Yeah it sucks being at the mercy of someone else, like they are the machine shop.

"Performance not Promises"

That is the vision of the company. I have spent well over $30,000 with SGP and Mark and everything has been great. If anyone has a problem with SGP, then they simply are not handling themselves properly. Mark and his crew are one of, if not the best in the country and they are big on performance not promises. They know what they are doing and they do it very well. Sure, my car has sat for a while at times like others, but at the end of the day, you have the most precise build, install, and tune that you can find in this country. Isn't that really what we are paying for? Anyone can crank out a bunch of crap but these guys work hard to uphold the quality of their work. You also have to understand the volume of work these guys are putting out. It's not everyday that you find guys that will torque down every head bolt with integrity etc etc. It is tough to find good people and they stick with the best. That's all for me. SGP is the way to go for work and tune with integrity and know-how. Put those two together and I'll wait....every time.

+1 Good to see you up at the shop on Sunday! I had the blue Z there.

My feeling is that if you are honest with your goals, SGP, like many shops, will do their best to get you what you desire.

Are you saying the z ecu alone? What exactly can they do to it? Do they tune UTEC? This is in Austin correct?

no need for a piggyback, or stand alone. they tune YOUR ECU. they tune one map and then leave you a stock map and a valet map. you switch by using your cruise control buttons, but im not exactly sure how that works. they can do anything you want including removing your speed limiter, raising your idle, remaping your throttle control, optimizing your a/f and timing maps. you can get the tune and flash for the same price as a UTEC. $300 one time flash fee and about 3 hours of dyno tuning at $175 a hour. if you doubt them at all, give them a call, they will blow you out of the water with how much they know about our ecu. im 95% sure i will have my vortech tuned there and i will be selling my utec.
