LSD or Coilover??
You will not find a setup that is optimal for both. On my personal car, we run Tein Flex's with DR's on the 1/4 mile, and switch to Hoosiers for the circuit course. It's a fairly good compromise.
Your main traction issue, however, is those small rear tires, and your alignment is probably out of spec.

I havent used the MT's before, but if they are like most other DR's, they will wear out pretty quickly on the street, and be kinda sloshy in the corners. I would probably recommend running a dedicated wheel and DR tire for the 1/4 track.
What size wheels are you running?
Hal, to MT streets come in 18's?

For street, I like the BFG KDW T/A. They're soft and sticky... Just a preference, and I'm sure everyone's got an opinion on this. As far as a perfect balance of road and race suspension setups, Sharif hit the nail on the head. You're not going to find a setup that's perfect for both. Best bet is to go with something adjustable. The TEIN Flex / EDFC combo is something that's been done hundreds of times, but it's really about what you want to do with the car overall.
I went with a softer setup and chose the GReddy Type-S. Similar to the TEIN CS in ride quality and perfect for launch as you get a nice squat. Some would say too soft for hard core track events though... In any case, definitely get a wider set of tires in the back. Even my 285's are weak in the traction department

yeah stock suspension is the best for traction, but trying to find a compromise between handling and traction are always going to be two opposing things. The main thing is to get some stickier tires.
The factory rear springs are 7.4 lb springs, aftermarket rear springs/coilovers are 6-10, and usually 6-8 in most cases so I wouldn't think rear squat would suffer really huge. I'd avoid running really stiff rear sway bars as well for better rear squat

I have hotchkis springs and sways and love them. The springs are really not any stiffer then stocks, just made for the lowering. With the sways I noticed a big difference in body roll and handling.

And all the sticky flavors of road racing tire all come in 18 inch and under.
The MT ET Street radials ("Worlds Fastest Street Radial") only go up to 17's, though I would suggest a 15 or 16" to give you more sidewall. They would help your situation a lot. You would definitely want a different set of tires for road course though.
