Default rod/piston combo on ebay

I'm looking at doing a mild build on my engine with greddy tt kit. Not looking for all out power just something reliable. I searched but didn't find much about this combo. Would something like this work ok for 450-500 hp? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSA...spagenameZWDVW
Going to also run arp main and head studs.

Any particular reason you would buy these from some random Ebay vendor who will not likely be there to help you out should something come up? Considering Sharif sells these same items for $1330 shipped so, why wouldn't you support one of the vendors here that supports the community so well?

I would choose them over Pauter due to the smoothness, adding ridges for strength is adding a source of cracks later.

eagle rods will out live most of the engines weaknesses at this point. i actually dont know of anyone who has bent them to date on their VQ.

just wondering, not starting any debate

At the shop i hang around at all the time we have gotten several kits from eagle where the weight of each rod was way different...I am not knocking them as a company cause i know they make a decent rod at a good price, i just wouldn't put them in my own car because of what i have seen...(these rods were for Porsche cars)...I think he should get them from a vendor and not eBay in case he runs into this problem or any problem with any part he buys...

I'm curious as to why you wouldn't choose Eagle rods either? There has been no issues with them and there is a member that I know of making over 600whp with them and no problems.

They are so cheap because they do make them in bulk instead of made to order like Pauter (they may keep some more common makes such as the Z in small stock quantities though).

For the price Eagle is the way to go if you are looking to stay under 600whp and in my opionion there are quite few things that you have to worry about in order to get to those numbers other then rods (which are an obvious must still).

Also, while it may be true that the weights are not as spot on as the pauters that is why you get the assembly balanced which you should do regardless of what rods you put in.

Obviously the only reason to purchase on ebay is because of price. If I can save 200 bucks why not? Also Im going to check to make sure they're an authorized dealer so warranty and such shouldn't be a problem. I wanted to purchase from concept z as that's where i get parts for my z32 but he doesn't seem to have everything I need.

Actually you're only saving $150 if you factor in the shipping of the item on Ebay. I don't care what the guy from Ebay says about being a vendor or not. Good luck if you get any support should something come up. For all the help the vendors on this board provide paying the extra $150 is more then worth it. But hey go ahead, save yourself $150 and buy from ebay. But don't expect much help from people when you have another issue/question.

With the way engine builds go I would only buy everything and have it installed at the same place. If you buy your own parts, get the motor assembled, then have someone install and tune it, you'll be stuck in a complicated situation if anything goes bad. Not worth saving a few hundred bucks for that risk IMHO.

You really dont have any kind of guarantee anyway. If you break those rods, or crack those pistons it is either the installers fault, tuners fault, or your fault for not keeping up your motor. Most aftermarket rods and pistons dont have any kind of warranty, so just by them from the guy on ebay and save a few bucks, IMO.

Domestics make over 1000whp on eagle rods. I don't see the problem with them. They are made overseas but quality control is done in the US.

As mentioned there are no warranties in this game so it really doesn't matter where you get them, but my only concern with someone from ebay would be that the parts would be fakes and not manufactured the same and you wont find out unitl it is too late and then you will have to spend more than the 150.00 you save now.

Also the issue with the Eagles is mainly for the machinist and balancing they are not always close in weight so it takes them a little more to balance the motor than if you used other brands.

We'll take $50 off if you order the set from us.

I would be leary of buying something, from a guy that says "(HAVE RUN 32 + PSI BOOST ON THESE ALREADY"

hmmm...sure he has.

But for 450-500whp, this setup should be fine. For higher power levels, I would suggest the Arias ED pistons.
