Default After 67,000 mi....

My stock block on the APS ST finally gave up. Was good while it lasted (445rwhp/505 tq @ 10psi), and doing a quick run down the back country road yesterday, she spun a bearing (I believe). I beat the **** out of her for 2 years, and I'm surprised it lasted this long.

She still runs, but it certainly sounds like something is trying to beat its way out of the block, so I've parked it before I poke a hole in the block.

I guess this forces my hand to go with a built motor setup or stay with a stock block setup...

67000 miles in 2 years, that is a lot by itself, if I read the thread right.

Good luck on your built block.

Damn. I've been silently following your car on the boards for a while now. You sticking with the APS ST? It's definitely capable of putting down more power with the right supporting mods and a built engine...

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Sorry to hear. I can't wait to see what she puts down after you build(if you do). Also those were awesome numbers on the stock block. Keep us updated. And 67 k is awesome. Gives hope with a good tune

Sorry to hear that, but at least you got some great usage out it. If we can be of any help, dont hesitate.

You already have - just waiting for the Cosworth plenum to be made available The confusing part right now is which built setup (which vendor?) to pursue. There's a number of options available, but I have a budget constraint and would like to stay at or under $6k. Probably need to compile all the options into a spreadsheet and just stare at it...

Thanks for the kind words; yes, I'll stick with the APS ST setup. This Spring's attack-plan is a built block that can breath a little easier with cams, plenum and a new external wastegate setup. It'd be nice to see 500 rwhp by Summer's end.

Why are you debating on whether or not to put a stock block back in? Just throw some eagle rods and wiseco in there. Thats the cheapest and most reliable combo I know of

sorry to hear man, but sounds like you got some good plans I'm probably also going to park my car and wait till I can build the motor. Mine's not blown or anything yet but I'd really like to keep my block intact lol

You must of had a very lean A/F tune in order to get that much rwhp out of a APS ST on a stock block. If I'm not mistaken there are guys with APS TT running the same boost and only doing those types of #'s. Am I missing something here!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that...
You've been so quiet in the 350z forums lately, I thought you sold your car.. HAHAH~ Glad to hear that you are sticking with APS ST!! Although my stock engine is doing just fine, I bought an extra short block and it's at GTM for the stage 0 build, which I recommand it to you as well~ I wasn't strong like you.. I gave in and sold the APS ST to my buddy.. I'll be steppin' up to TT world. Good luck!

From what I hear, APS's fuel system is good enough to deliver the fuel at 450WHP level... Also, JoeDirt has a water & methanol injection kit...

might want to pull it apart to see if your block is still good. a spun bearing destroys the block also. but if it is just a bent rod bairily nicking the inside of the block, you may be able to salvage it, or if the bearing spun on a rod, you may be able to turn the rod journal down to clean it up.
