Default SS box tuning

Hello all I wanted to know on a difficulty on a scale of 1-10 how hard is it to tune the SS box?? I want Sound performance to dyno tune my car, they are a big known company and tune alot of cars but dont have the software.... well i just recieved it thanks to some very nice people!!!

what do you guys think about letting sound performance do the dyno tune?

GRD initially did a tune and didn't finish it... ill post story later, anywho i sold the SSV plenum and went to stock with a spacer i had originally for now and 440cc injectors.

I wouldnt know how to tune it myself lol obviously. opinions on this?

The SS box is a little different in tuning than other piggybacks and it helps if you have done them before, but if they check it out and call Split Second with a couple of questions they can figure it out. This is mainly for the Fuel tuning if using it with a Vortech, if using it with a JWT then it is simple as it is only timing and that is straight forward.

They shouldnt have any problems tuning it . If done correctly and done at all load cells , it takes a while . If you just do WOT it doesnt take long at all

IMO, just go somewhere who has experience using the SS software.

I read your other story and now I see that you stole the R4 software. You were too cheap to pay the small $50 charge through Split Second to actually buy the software.

Being cheap and owning a F/I vehicle do not work well together.

SS is not difficult to tune, but it is a little quirky, especially the first time you tune a fresh car, as it tends to erase all the parameter settings when you download the maps from the unit.

Other than that, they should havent any issues if they read the manual, and understand how it works.

Yes when you upload the original maps off the SS box on to your laptop . It will change the settings in it . But if you know it going in and change them back before writing any new info to it . Its no biggy
