hehe I actually thought about it being an engine swap - even an LSX swap, but I was thinking surely it'd be something other people haven't started working on since we were led to believe it was a totally new concept. I was thinking more something like making the Z a rear engine design or something or something totally different than an engine swap

but yeah why not keep an ongoing thread to log what you've been through so other people can actually see what parts fit or don't fit, which ones work and don't work - and why. I kinda think it's interesting reading people's stories on install projects - as long as it isn't a typical "here's my list of stuff I'm installing - bla bla bla" then later in the thread it's all done with no documentation of what issues there were and what had to be done to get certain parts to install.

I mean, when someone drops off their car and dumps $5-15k worth of parts and labor into the car, don't they usually call every so often to get updates if you know they're working on it that week? Every couple days or so I'd wanna know what's going on with my car and what the hurdles have been - just a quick 5 min update even. Simply getting the car back finished is kinda boring to me and doesn't help anyone in the Z community

oh mine is going to be video documented so people can DIY via DVD......hinson is going to make wire harnesses, mounts and everything so it becomes a simple swap along with the "how-to" video....now how's that for helping the Z community

I'm pretty sure that carbon sticks the warmer it gets, not the colder it gets... i think the problem might have been somewhere else, but it's kind of moot now

Noah,
Sucks to be you today man..My condolences all around.
The problem was most likely a spun rod bearing due to lack of oil. Most likely the oil was being consumed at a drastic rate, most likely piston ring blow by from the pistons and rings taking a beating ove the past xx,xxx miles on an insufficient tune/detonation...

So I assume the LS1 will be built since it can usually hold around 550whp before unloading?

Get ready for some traction issues from hell. Ls1 making some monster torque down low, not to mention if you TT it. Keep us posted.

Noah, now that you've kinda spilled the beans, all I can say is AWESOME. That's going to be one badass project. I think it's great that you're going to share the details when you're done. I'd love to see an LS1/LS2 swap kit come out of this.

Don't you know you can't do that with a Nissan. You have to have a shop work on your car or it won't be reliable, and it will give the kit maker a bad name, and it's just frowned upon on this forum. What you do think this is a domestic. We drive exotic imports that require a lot of special knowledge.

Oh wait, your putting a LSx into the car. Now it's OK. Domestic owners work on cars all the time. That should be fine then.

Good luck with the project. Even if twins don't work a nicely built NA LSx would rock.

Brian @ Hinson Supercars is trying to tell me to play around with 600rwhp N/A and then take it from there....this way it's easier to trouble shoot anyproblems...i mean worst case put a NOS plate on with a 250 shot and i should have a 10 sec car

That's probably a wise idea...and you can sell the JWT for some extra money.
