Default Dun Dun Dun...another One Bites The Dust!!!

Well.....after 11K trouble free boosted miles with my JWT TT set-up my motor has spun a rod bearing and bent the crank....

NOW!!!! This was in no way shape or form the fault of of JWT...I wasn't even in boost...was pulling off the line from a stop with my ATS Twin Disc, car didn't wanna go into 1st....all of a sudden BANG BANG BANG followed by tick tick tick tick all the way home.....i started it up this morning just to look....the main crank pully is bent at an angle but still torqued to the crank....I checked the Oil and wow.....after an oil change 3 days ago my car ate up an unexpected quart....i didn't check the levels since the oil change and BYE BYE MOTOR!!!!

As I said.....my motor going was due to oil consumption... not the JWT TT kit...i still plan to use the JWT KIT on my new motor.....keep your eyes and ears open.....I have some "plans" for her!!!

Big Thanx to Julian @ MRC for taking time out this moring to diagnose my problem and offer to help me knowing my current financials.

Sorry to hear that. Did the spun bearing cause the motor to lock up?

Sorry to hear Noah. Damage could have been done from the previous interval and the possible low oil level. Ive had a simial issue with another car, drained the oil was way low, changed it and it spun a rod bearing. What are your plans?

not JWT's fault at all!!!!!

oh yeah.....I also got a call about an hour after my motor went that my 31 year old cousin has malignant malinoma...YAYYYYYYYYYY

KILL ME NOW PLEASE!

It seems that it's teh fault of the ATS clutch getting stuck...obviously the clutch won't break so the crank jammed and caused the rod bearing to go

How much power were you making? Any modifications to the kit?

Sorry for both of your issues...

sucks, but you mean to say the engine eating a quart of oil in 3 days is the "normal" oil consumption problem everyone talks about? I thought that was an issue where over say a month the engine would lose like 1/3-1/2 a quart on a bone stock car or something?

Will nissan replace that motor for you since you said it was a consumption problem?

no mods to the kit.....honestly I have had dyno readings anywhere from 374 to 450 at 9.8 psi (.7 BAR)

If you never noticed an oil consumption problem before, than chances are the damage was done due to the kit and your engine was already on its way out.

Now if you said that those responsible for filling the oil put in 1 quart short..I would tend to believe that it wasn't an issue with the JWT kit.

Nissan doesn't have to do anything once you take it in your hands to mess with their engine. Even if it was their fault, you couldn't prove it at this point

JWT is not to blame nor is the shop that changed the oil...i counted 6 quarts....ATS TWIN CARBON is the DEVIL.....it was like 12 degreees last night the car didn't want to go into 1st....so i put it in neutral, pressed the clutch and put it in first....the clutch got stuck and jammed up the crank.....how is that JWT or Mobil's fault?!?

maybe my car was always eating oil....i just changed it every month so i never noticed

I dont see why not.. If he had oil consumption probs documented well before the TT then he could have a case. Otherwise I do see your point..

Sorry for the loss bro. So it's safe to say that the motor would have kept going if it wasn't for the clutch.

On a side note, it's funny how everyone who has plans for the motor always does it in secret like it's something that no one else has done.

If he had oil consumption problems documented before the TT, he would've been a fool not to take it in and get it fixed before the TT.....no?

I agree 100%. It's one of the most annoying things about the Z community. All the secretive BS.

+1, I wish there were more build-up threads showing progress and builds.

Noah,

Could you elaborate a little bit more on what exactly caused the ATS clutch to stick?
