Default Worn clutch or tires?

Hey guys,

I have a vortech setup making about 400whp. Recently I haven't been able to hold traction in 2nd around 6000 rpm. I'll accelerate all the way up the rpm band, but start feeling some studdering once i hit 6000 rpms. It feels like the wheels aren't sticking to the ground, but could it be the that its the clutch slipping instead? My tires need to be replaced soon, but I still have a bit of tread to run through. Any ideas?

Ummm, if you're clutch is slipping it would just climb in revs...how about having somebody follow you and watch.

If it feels like the tires aren't stick then you might be breaking traction. What size tires are you running out back? If it doesn't do it in any of the higher gears I'm inclined to think it is traction, otherwise if it were a slipping clutch I figure it would slip in the other gears as well.

running 275's out back, if its not the clutch, i would guess that its time for me to go in for another alignment.
