Turbo for my RB26...finalization.
I have been trying to source a turbo for my RB26 for a while now. I have been on the fence between the GT3582R, the GT4088R, the TO4Z and even the GT4094R. After going back and forth about a thousand times I think I have I am 95% on the GT4088R with a split flanged .95 A/R turbine housing...but then I call around looking for the best price and I talk to one company that basically says straight out to me..."Buying a GT4088R is about pointless now after the introduction of the GT4094R. They spool almost identically because they use the exact same turbine wheel and housing, but has a larger compressor wheel which gives it more topend and a broader powerband"
I posted this on the Skyline forum at fresh alloy, but figured I would get good responses here too. Anyone here have any thoughts about this?
Also, the cheapest I have found these turbos is $1550 shipped (for which ever one of the two I want). So if anyone knows where I can get a better deal, please let me know, because I would really like to order my turbo today.

I thought the first 2 numbers of the garrett product # indicated the Compressor size and the last 2 indicated turbine housing A/R. That would mean that both of those turbo's have the same size compressor with the only difference being the turbine A/R housing size. Am I incorrect?

Update from the future, lol...thats my bad
There will be a big update coming soon...I picked up the motor from the machine shop last weekend and started putting it together when I realized I left a box of various bolts and misc. parts with them. So I'm picking up those parts tommorow then finishing up the build of the motor this weekend...with a ton of buildup pictures to follow.
If the motor is built up fully as I expected it to be by saturday afternoon (and I can get the Z inspected one last time), I will be pulling the VQ out Sunday and will start seeing how stuff is going to line up and what I am going to need to do as far as mounts and modifying the cross member are concerned.
I would be alot further, but the machine shop too forever. Dropped it off Feb 28 and was told it would be about 6 weeks...didn't pick it up until June 15...thats damn near 4 months.
Anyways...def more updates coming soon...
