AND YES the original issue was a FAILED OIL PUMP...

Thanks Steve for appreciating our hard-work and dedication to trying to make as many people happy as possible.

Yet the old saying STILL HOLDS TRUE.

Great read.

that's pretty cool of Michael and VRT, but can a regular everyday customer expect free engines if something blows up?
I'm not sponsored by anyone, and I'm a regular everyday customer.

I snapped an axle at 10pm at Irwindale 1/8 mile track. Called up Michael not knowing what actually went wrong, he offered to drive out over 130+ miles with his trailer to pick up my FX at the track. I told him I'd get it to my house and if he could come get it the next day. He was at my house the next day at 11am with his trailer to pick up my FX.

Good read...Even after several months has passed since VRT installed TT on my FX, Mike calls me regularly to check how I am doing and how my car is running, he also send me emails once awhile to see if everything is ok. Now that's what I call a customer service. Once you are VRTed, you will never be forgotten by VRT, that's how Mike cares about his customers. Great guy.

Hahaha, whitenight.... nice try in defending that "mraturbo", kudos my friend.

I know of more people that have been fuked by VRT than people who haven't, and that is sad !! I do applaud your grasping at strings attempt to save some vrt face, though. MrA does have a way with people, he can f**k them over and at the same time make them feel as if he has bent over backwards for you (its really more like bending them over), I swear, its like an art.

First of all, I don't know you. You are not my friend.

Further, all that I posted were the facts. I am not trying to defend anyone or any company. I am not "grasping" at anything. All I did was post my experience with Michael and VRT.

I don't know if you know Michael A. personally or not, but if you have no direct experience with him, then all you have is hearsay.

In that case, your post is irrelevant and superfluous.

Thanks, Michael, for posting my dyno chart.

I can't wait to try the car out at Buttonwillow at the next time attack!

Will you be my friend? Please?

On a side note, did you have any pre-existing symptoms that may have forewarned you of a oil pump problem?

For a reasonable guy like you, John, SURE.

No early warning at all. The car had run for the previous week with no problems and no symptoms. The car didn't exhibit any symptons or noises even AFTER I noticed the loss of oil pressure. The only indication that I had was visual - on the gauge and the dash. So that was a bit disturbing.

Michael would be better able to answer that. I have not actually seen the results. But yes, from what he has told me, the heads were trashed, cams were scored, etc. It wasn't pretty...

I'm kinda confused why VRT decided to give you a whole new re-build... If the oil pump was the cause of this problem (and VRT never even touched the oil pump), then why did they decide to help you out?

All I'm saying, is that if You were Me, and had this same exact situation happen to you, the engine builder would have said, "Sorry, we can't/won't warranty the engine due to the oil pump failure blah blah blah."

IMHO, you got very lucky that they are hooking you up. You must either be really good friends with them or have spent a lot of money with them in the past...

By no means am I trying to insinuate anything...Just trying to get a better understanding of why/how they (VRT) assumed responsibility.

Im not sure if you'd be considered a regular customer...

you've probably spent over $50K@VRT. I'd drive 130 miles if you spent anywhere near that!

Hardly 50k. Most of the installed accessories ie gauges, brakes, LSD, all the other stuff I've added have been bought elsewhere and installed by VRT or other shops.

Motor build. Second build on heads with C2 cams. Upgrade to the 700 turbos. Those are the bigger purchases done thru VRT.

Brakes were thru VRT but I paid the cost price to the distributor
Stillen exhaust and test pipes thru VRT but I paid the cost price to Stillen
Gauges bought by me installed by VRT
Zeitronix bought by me installed by VRT
Innovate bought be me installed by me
Boost controller bought by me installed by VRT
3.7FD and diff bought from member here installed by TS
LSD bought from Z1 auto installed by VRT
APS plenum bought from Sharif installed by VRT
Motordyne spacer bought by me installed by me
Motordyne Mrev2 bought by me installed by me
Forged VB bought by me installed by VRT
Edge racing TC bought by me installed by VRT

It goes on and on, I have hardly purchased anything thru VRT that they made a sales profit on. It's not like anyone can really do the research for me on my FX for what parts will and will not fit.

A lot of this stuff was done while the motor or tranny was out and I was able to get the part ready for the re-installation of other components. I'll dig up receipts from various vendors like intense motorsports and options import where I've ordered a lot of little things from if you think I'm lying.

Great Question. The fact is Steve set out to build a race-car. We built him one. We went to the first race with the car and on the day prior OF THE FIRST RACE, the car failed.

Well, could of said **** Happens or could said "the oil pump failed, it is a race-car, SORRY" or woulda shoulda coulda...LOL...This scenario happened to me when I started out modding my first Z and honestly was the reason why I started VRT...

Instead, we decided the client never got to race the race-car we built him and even-though it hurts the pocketbook, we stepped up and fixed the car.

Plain and simple.

Not the first car we fixed that wasn't our fault and certainly not the last you can be sure of that. If it is the right thing to do and we have the means, we will do it...

Now if the client was totally NEGLIGENT, maybe that wouldn't hold true, yet in this case and others, the client deserved to get what they paid for regardless of whose fault or failure it was...

Thanks for asking.

Great job Mike! Even though Mike and I have only spoken over the phone I can tell that this is the type of guy Mike is and this is how he takes care of VRT customers. I definitely look forward to working with VRT in the future knowing that Mike and the staff at VRT "take care of business".
