Its not tacky posting what you are paying, if anything it stimulates competition in the aftermarket. It is also good to know what people are paying to build thier cars as a reference point for others looking to do the same when they are having work done by a shop. BTW you dont need to port the heads and put big valves in them. They flow enough stock. 344cfm is more than enough air flow.

But they usually do good work.

Good luck.

HEads are between 1 and 5k.

I would personally not go to VRT, but give GTM a call.

How much GTM pole-smoking do we have to read about on these forums? I'm sure he knows about them if he's read a few threads on the FI section. Not trying to be a d!ck, but it seems like everyone's got an opinion as to where people should spend their time and $$$. FWIW, I've heard good and bad things about GTM.

Wherever you go...there are good and bad. In my experience GTM is waaaay more expensive than anywhere else I got quoted. Maybe they have changed but they werent even in the ballpark. Not saying they dont do good work, but overpriced.

You get what you pay for, so why not go with the best.

I agree with this....are you saying GTM is the best? I think there are a lot of good shops out there that do real quality work...

As for the Op'a question, I would think from what I have heard people paying at other places that is a good deal and MrA builds great cars, you will be happy.

Dunno about that but at least they dont have 30% restocking fee like some sshops

OP, here are a couple of threads if your search button dont work...u decide. as for the quote, you should get something more detailed and specific and have it broken down between parts/labor in case u make changes. also, see if it includes taxes and credit card fees. i learnt the hardway.

No shop will really give you a deal on motor builds.. that's the bottom line. I've read a lot of happy thread about vrt. I've gotten quoted 20k as well on 500+whp build, which doesn't sound to unreasonable.

of course everybody realizes there are people out there that just cant be pleased and some companies will have a couple of bads but...

question is how much bad vs good a company has in its reputation. For example, company with 10-1 good to bad experiences vs company that has 10-3. especially when its consisent and similiar complaints that arent corrected. which would u choose?
